Good work Messi.
I was well chuffed last night, I played against Zaragoza who had knocked me out of the League Cup, so we had played each other 3 times already. We drew, lost and won against them. Kerzhakov among a few others played their hearts out, Kerzhakov got a hat trick in the first half an hour. Score ended 6-1 and I was really pleased. Then I went and drew against R.C.D Espanyol and Mallorca 2-2 on both games, so that took away some of my joy. I'm now 4th in the league with three games remaining. Barcelona are first, 11 points ahead of me and they've won the league. Valencia are three points ahead of me and I have them next. Real Madrid are 1 point ahead of me and I've played them twice already and beat them twice. ------------------- ![]() I'll be wallowing in sorrow, wearing a frown, like Pierrot the clown.

I finished my first season of Master League last night, was quite happy with the players I brought in but very disappointed with the last three games I played at the end of the season. I firstly beat Valencia 1-0, Bodmer got his first and last goal for the club, quite a goal too, piuty he's crap. And the next two games were against two weak sides in the league and I drew both. The last game of the season, I managed to beat HJK Helsinki 2-1, very lucky. I finished fourth, Valencia finished third over me by a single goal in goal difference. Real Madrid second with 4 points over me, and Barcelona trashed us all by getting a total of 100 points that year. They won all but 4 which they drew, and one thing that shocked me was they only conceded 6 goals and they were 6 goals against me. First game was 8-2 and the second was 6-4.

re: Your Master League |
![]() Article from Marco Van Hinkovic Earlier today we were able to catch up with newly appointed FC Twente manager Ruud Von Gefferlink, 54, and ask him what he has to say on the upcoming season. Marco Van Hinkovic - Ruud, hello, how are you feeling about taking over as the manager of 'The Reds'? Ruud Von Gefferlink - I really don't know, in many ways this is a step down for me, no offence meant to anyone by the way, as I have managed the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea to succes. However, I am really looking forward to the prospect of managing in Holland and especially with FC Twente because even though they may not be winning the league, they do have a decent sqaud. Marco - What exactly do you mean by "decent" sqaud? Surely you're not criticising your own players before even seeing them play a game? Ruud - Ah, there you see, you are wrong on that note. I don't take any job without researching the squad first. I know that we lack depth in defence and midfield but we have plenty of forwards. I also have a few suprises up my sleeve which I hope will pay off. Marco - Oooh, what exactly are these suprises? You can't just walk out on me like that, the whole FC Twente fanbase want to know! Ruud - Tell them that they'll find out when the time comes. I will say something however, there will be a change of the style of play and there will most definitely be a lot of players brought in to the club come January. Rumours have led us to believe that Ruud von Gefferlink will play an attacking style of play, with the formation looking something like this: ---------GK--------- ---CB----CB-----CB-- ---------DM--------- -----CM-------CM---- -RWF------------LWF- -------CF---CF------ ![]() N'Kufo has impressed in pre-season training, could he lead 'The Tukkers' to success?

re: Your Master League |
![]() 4 games in and Reds are going strong Article from Marco Van Hinkovic The rumours were ripe about what these "surprises" Von Gefferlink promised were. Some said that he was going to try and establish links with the "bigger clubs" like Barcelona etc. Some said that he was going to sell the whole squad for millions of pounds then resign and leave 'The Tukkers' in serious problems. Some even said that he was planning on making the whole team dye their hair blonde in order to "raise morale and togetherness in the squad". All of these were wrong of course, the formation we exclusively revealed last month is the formation that has served FC Twente so well in their opening four games. Von Gefferlink's preferred starting XI: ------------Boschker---------- --Wielaert--Braafheid--Zomer-- -----------Brama------------- --Hersi------------El Ahmadi-- --Huysegems--------Denneboom-- --------N'Kufo--Arnautovic-- The first game for The Reds saw them take on Sparta Rotterdam in an absolute thriller. They were 2-1 up right until the 90th minute when they conceded the corner and as is the way when you have bad luck, they equalised to make it 2-2. With frustration growing in Brama, once he received the ball from the kick-off he hoofed it, true Route 1 style, towards the opposition back line. The defender seemed to have control over the situation when he chested it down in front him but Veteran striker and captain N'Kufo nipped in to make 3-2 with the last kick off the game. The other games all saw FC Twente create hat-fulls of chances (ranging from 12-25 shots a game) but failing to keep it tight in defence. The results were: FC Utrecht 1 - 1 FC Twente Vitesse 2 - 5 FC Twente FC Twente 6 - 3 Willem II Transfer Rumour: With seemingly no hot prospects in his squad, Von Gefferlink is reportedly set to splash the cash on a lot of youngsters in order to bring success to The Reds. One prime target for Von Gefferlink is the Japanese youngster Shimizu, who can play in midfield and upfront. Another target could well be Ismaïl Aissati, a 19-year-old Central Midfeilder who could help to add a more creative influence to the team. ![]() A potential signing for The Tukkers?

re: Your Master League |
![]() Team Subs: Fantastic start to the season! Valencia started the season as firm favourites to take the League C Division 2 title, and they did not dissapoint. Despite an under-par performance Valencia snatched victory in the first game against Belgian team RSC Anderlecht. The only goal of the game came late in the first half, a great passing move saw Joaquin cross in for David Villa to slide home. This pattern continued with 2 1-0 wins in their next 2 games against Argentines Piver Plate and Swiss outfit Basle. A further win against IFK Göteborg made it 4 in a row for Ronald Koeman's men. A Mixed bag Valencia game unstuck against battling FC Copenhagen. A poor performance saw the game end goalless, with very few shots for either team. Valencia were determined to show their true potential, with their fans getting on their back despite the positive results, wanting more attractive football being played at the Mestalla. Valencia answered these calls in true style. Celtic were the unlucky team. David Villa showed why he's fans favourite with 4 goals in a 5-0 trouncing, putting him top of the goals ranking. With the fans on their side Valencia went into the next game with Dinamo Zagreb full of confidence, in a dull game, Valencia came out second best for the first time this season. 0-0 with 5 minutes to go David Villa came deep to recieve the ball and inadvertanly put the Zagreb striker through on goal, who slotted home with no problem. Despair on the face of Koeman's face said it all. Success in the Cup! Before the match everyone put Valencia as favourites but nobody expected what they saw. A devestating game for IFK Göteborg saw Valencia knock 7 past them with ease. Wonderful flowing football ended in 3 goals for David Villa, 2 for Joaquin, 1 for Edu and 1 for Vicente. That was just the first leg. Koeman rested several key players in the second leg in a forgettable game which ended 0-0. Crunch match Vs. Galatasaray This was bound to be the hardest match of the season so far for Valencia. With Galatasaray 5 points behind Valencia at the top of the table, this was a game they had to win to stay in the title race. They did not turn up in the first half and Valencia deservedly went in 1-0 up at the break thanks to a superb solo David Villa goal. Galatasaray improved in the second half with lots of possesion but a lack of cutting edge. Going into the final 10 minutes Valencia looked comfortable until a sudden turn of events turned the game on its head. Galatasaray scored a free kick which they were very lucky to be given. In the last minute of the game a corner was whipped in and a diving header was diverted into the top corner of the goal. Valencia 1-2 Galatasaray. Boos rang out around the Estadio Mestalla as Koeman and his team went down the tunnel. Back on Track The dissapointment of the previous match was wiped away with 3 straight wins against Helsinki, Club Brugge and Hammarby. the fans were singing at full voice, and the team were beginning to gel brilliantly. Once again David Villa put in a 5 star performance by netting 5 times in 3 games. Massive slump in form Once again, Valencia's consistency failed them and in the next 5 matches they only picked up 7 points, not championship form. A draw in Turkey against Besiktas was followed by wins against Dynamo Kiev and SC Internacional. They seemed to be pulling away at the top of the table from fellow front runners Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. Unfortunatley the next 2 games were less straight forward, a loss at Scottish side Rangers by 1 goal to nil, put doubt in the back of Koeman's mind. If the performance against Rangers was poor, the next match against Olympiakos was on a different scale of poor. Despite being spearheaded in attack by the ever reliable David Villa, Valencia were toothless upfront, and Olympiakos defended doggedly. 2 goals either side of half time condemned Valencia to 2 straight defeats for the first time this season. This left them just 2 points ahead going into the negotiation period. Frustration in the Transfer Market Koeman had several players in mind going into the transfer market. He was desperate for an attacking midfielder as he had bemoaned the lack of attacking intent coming from midfield. An audacious bid for Brazilian Kaka was thought to be too extravegent, but Kaka was excited by the prospect of playing in Spain and only a late disagreement with the AC Milan board stopped Ronald Koeman form signing the World Player of the year. Further talks with Steven Gerrard to join the club were quickly dismissed because he had his heart set in Liverpool and did not want to leave. The search for an attacking midfieler carried on but with no final product. An unsettled Manuel Fernandes headed off to Reading to play in the English Premier league. Koeman went looking for a supporting striker for David Villa as Joaquin proved to be effected put was lacking a finish. Talks with Berbatov, Pato and Bojan petered out as Valencia failed to sign anyone, the 40000 points were still firmly in the chairmans pocket. ![]() Manuel Fernandes: Off to England Disgruntled Morientes Spanish newspaper Las Provincias have reported that Fernando Morientes has fallen out with manager Ronald Koeman and is looking for a move out of Valencia. Koeman has been very unhappy with some of his recent performances and has labelled him as lazy. Morientes has refused to play for the club until he gets his move. ![]() Morientes: Looking for a way out. League Table 1. Valencia CF - 36 pts 2. Galatasaray - 34 pts 3. Fenerbahce SK - 34 pts 4.
