The main complaint isn't solely on credibility of a lightsaber hitting metal, that's just a small part of it. The main complaint which the majority of complainers have is the fact a lightsaber would destroy the feel of the game. Imagine playing something like Prince of Persia and than fighting an enemy who has a laser gun or imagine playing Assassin's Creed but instead of throwing daggers you have an AK-47. Sure, it may be fun for a bit and may seem like a good idea to a five year old, but if you're playing the game and enjoying the feel of the old style it has, would that style not be totally ruined by seeing Yoda or Vader with their lightsabers?

To me I think it would be cooler to see how it looks. And its not like they changed all the swords to lightsabers.

Tiger's right, it's not about the 'realism' of it all alone, it's just the concept. Plus, we already have 'mystical' weapons, Soul Edge and Soul Calibur. This is solely for fan-service (for the Star Wars fans) like most of the game, mosly new female characters, clothes ripping off, etc..

Not to mention that Yoda is quite unbalanced as it is, broken because of his small size and huge advantages.

So long as the game is balanced and the online is smooth that is all i am worrying about at the moment.

Star wars is a bit weird but we have to accept that games companies are trying to do things to get new fans and just as importantly to entice people into buying next gen and this is one of those things.

I personally don't mind the idea of 2 star wars characters being in, i feel Vader is more SC than Yoda anyway. Lightsabres are out there but some of the weapons in the game are slightly magical themselves.

Actually it's not 10000 years ahead, if u look at the beginning of the SW movies, they will say, long time ago a galaxy far far away. And I still have a problem with this idea, oh well

In my opnion every weapon in soul calibur (even Volda's) is better than the lightsabers, I don't hate the light sabers just prefer Soul Calibur weapons obv

Kilik's staff pwns when used right. I think they tuned him down in the last game though.
