Is anyone else disappointed with how broken Yoda is as far as nobody being able to grab him and only some moves actually being able to hit him?
And do you guys think its right or wrong to use him in ranked matches?

I agree very much at first I thought it would be ok to have Yoda even though in the back of my head there was that thought that they might overpower him. At least if you can't grab him they could have made it easier to hit him anyways though yeah I wish we had Vader instead. Also yes I think it very wrong to use him in ranked matches. You'll get no respect from me.

Anyways, I'm kind of sad about this, too. Even though I'm not a fan of Star Wars, I thought it'd be cool to play as Yoda. But, since he's such a pansy character to play as now, I'll never be able to play as him and have some satisfaction

I'm tired of seeing so many people everywhere saying how unfair Yoda is so i post this in his defense(sorta). after having the game for a day now and playing with Yoda in arcade mode about 6 times now i must say he is one of the most fun characters Ive played and very unique. i will admit its kinda gay that you cant grab him but there are so many ways to counter him. Most of his attacks have him jump in the air and do very slow elaborate spins/flips to attack leaving him open to horizontal/juggle moves and quick kicks. his grab move is easy to counter if you guard against it and it leaves him open to many hits.

if your really good with your chosen characters you should know at least 1 or 2 vertical attacks or sweep attacks to launch him into the air. And Example would be the apprentices Up,UP, B, which launches, his Crouching Forward B,B and his CF, B,UP(force levitate),A,A,B,B. another would be mitsurugi's Back,B+k, B. i could list a few for other characters to that work well against this short stuff. as for people who use him and button mash they probably will be doing a lot of random flip attacks so just guard and when open crouching kick them to death. yoda's like a baseball when hes in the air Just smack him good with a horizontal and he flies.

While I completely understand what you are saying and completely agree with you that Yoda is beatable if you know what you are doing, I still think that he is a completely broken character that shouldnt be usable in ranked.
The problem I have is that my main is nightmare so all of my vertical attacks are incredibly slow and can hardly ever fit into one of the small opening between yodas very fast attacks. And while I could beat him with a counter pick, I find myself unable to do so because I pick my character before they do and I have no way of undoing my pick which leaves me in a dilema. And while I could be the best nightmare in the world, I could still find myself beaten by someone who just picked up the game using yoda because they dont have to worry about countering grabs or many of my attack combinations; and to top it off they could do all of this by simply mashing buttons.

if you need grabs to win, you dont deserve to win the match ne way. The fact you cant grab yoda should not impact your battle in the slightest. And when you are fighting him, just use Vertical and low sweeping attacks. People hes NOT that broken of a character in the least, iv beaten him on numerous occasions. Also the fact he has to jump in the air to hit you half the time means if hes not close your horizontal attack will land its mark. Rather than useing A attacks to counter after a block, use K, or down A attacks. I dont know why this is such a big deal.

well i tried fighting yoda with Segfried and i found a few usefull ways to counter him. im not sure if hes anything like nightmare but with Segfried i find using his Back,B+K stance which switches the sword to his right hand, allows him to do some nice sweep attacks that involve side stepping (which helps dodging his quick hits). another good thing i find is his move where he stomps the ground multiple times in front of him. and finally his Crouching Stanceis good for blocking and then quickly smacking him into the air very good for dealing this him.

ive fought him with pretty much every character now and i will admit i wouldnt want to fight him in a ranked match but hes still pretty beatable if your prepared. just imagine fighting him with the invisible abillity.

So what your saying is that I shouldnt need to grab to win when he is perfectly capable of doing it to win? Grabbing is a valid tactic is pretty important in setting up a lot of combos. And the fact that you must rely purely upon vertical and low attacks only proves that he is broken. He is broken in the sense that he is immune to a number of attacks and stratagies. Now I'm not saying that he is unbeatable by any means, i'm mearly saying that as a result of shoddy programing he has an unfair advantage over any other character.

I do think Yoda to be a very funny character. I love Star Wars, so much that I hate it in Soul Calibur... does that make any sense?
I do agree that fightning him online ruins it. It's just like Gon in Tekken 3, it's just annoying and while it might funny for the user, it can be a pain in the *** to fight against him.
Regarding him not being able to be grabbed, I think the guys at Namco were just too lazy to fix all the bugs that would come with grabbing a very small character lol
I too would prefer Vader. Well as a matter of fact, I would prefer different series in context with each console just like how they did it back in the time of PS2, Xbox and Gamecube. My suggestion would be: Ryu Hayabusa for Xbox360 and Kratos for PS3. Now tell me that wouldn't be awesome! *.*

yoda is so broken he can't really fight himself! his jumping attacks just go over the other him and he dodges everything with another attack.

i dont like yoda.. and his force isnt the best.. i prefer the dark side!
