I'm fairy certain everyone out there has one or two characters that they would prefer not come back for the next incarnations of Soul Calibur. Which one is yours?

I'm happy with the cast, in general, but I hope they don't add more of the copied characters into the game. I was getting tired in SCII of having another Cassandra (Lizardman) or Yun-Seung (Assassin) so that's one group of characters I hope they don't bring back. =/

Yun-Seong has been holding Seong Mi-Na back since his entrance to the series. I want back Hwang, to be honest, rather than him, although Yun-Seong has some nice kicks. I could also do without Tira, to be honest Unique weapon and all, decent character, but annoying and too overrated.

I don't think getting rid of any characters is necessary.

While many may not have the motive or as large a role in the over-arching story, for gameplay purposes, I think having all the characters wouldn't hurt.

And if the rumors are true that this is the final installment (at least in the current Soul era - They wanted to change the story and use new, unrelated characters when moving from Soul Blade to Soul Calibur originally, but kept the story and characters), then I defiantely want to have all the characters.

Good point, it's always great to have as many characters as possible for more variety and such. They do it in Tekken and other fighters for the most part.

I could care less about Lizardman, he's pretty much the same as Cassandra.

If this was indeed the last of the series I still wouldn't like to see all of them. Maybe just for story purposes but some of them do not, in my opinion, have no fighting purpose.

Lizardman is almost the complete opposite of Cassandra, imo.

I wouldn't mind if every character returned. But what I don't want to see are characters there just to be there like in the last game. Examples include Li Long or Hwang, who pretty much have no story and are just dead weight on memory. If you're going to bring characters back, give them a reason for coming back. A huge team of people are making this game... it's not that difficult to come up with some sort of story.

I do think that having inane, useless and repetitive characters is entirely pointless, Ray. I dislike when you play a fighting game and ninety percent of the characters are EXACTLY the same as two or three others, and it's a trend which has been happening way too much. If they want to keep 'em around, they had better make a ton of changes to the moveset of those characters.

I'm all for more characters as long as they have different moves and attacks. Off the top of my head I know about three or four people who have very similar styles of fighting and when you play as one you basically play as all of them. I'd rather try to learn to play as more characters than have many characters the same. I think characters like that should just be alternate attires, even if they look nothing like each other. They could just have a connection to each other for story purposes.

As long as they NEVER get rid of Kilik, I'll be pretty happy. I wouldn't mind them getting rid of Voldo.......he's.....kinda scary. Plus, Voldo almost always demolishes me, even if I'm playing as Kilik(my best character, other than Link in SC2).

I guess if I had to choose a character to get rid of, it'd be Lizardman.

And I do think that they'll be changing characters a bit to diffrentiate simular characters.

From Soul Calibur II to Soul Calibur III, Sophitia and Cassandra's differences improved greatly. The same goes for Kilik and Seuong Mi-na. Yunseuong's also becoming different from Hwang.

So if they keep the same route and keep modifying the characters so that they will play differently, I wouldn't mind seeing them all return.

But other then the gameplay aspect, as long as they aren't just there for no reason, and have an actual story behind their existence, then I think it's fine.

But Tira just joined the crew! XD

She does have a very small movelist though, and can be annoying.

I'm sure she'll improve though.

But she looks aweomse in SCIV, and we know she's in it now.

Still no shot of Voldo and Lizardman though, but I'm pretty confident Voldo will return.
