Character Creation |
|
I'd like to see this back only if the system was more refined. There weren't many options for setting up your characters. Such as, there wasn't much clothes options and there weren't in my opinion enough job classes to make the game more interesting. Some customizable moves depending on your class would certainly make it much more interesting.

I think they will most likely keep this feature.
I'm sure information on it will surface in the next trailer hopefully. But if not, I personally wouldn't mind if they did scrap it. I agree that, while being one of the best (if only) character creation modes in a fighting game, it could have been polished and made even better. Certainly, with the next-gen graphics, the characters can look more natural and detailed. I'd love to see an option for controlling a character's size. Although being free to make a character larger than Astaroth or smaller than Talim may interfere with the game's tracking/hit ratio. I can only imagine the glitches (Remember SCIII's wall glitches? XD). -------------------

re: Character Creation |
quote Ray_MasamuneWell in the case of the latest WWE games, the largest size was Big Show and the smallest size was Rey Mysterio. My point being, that Astaroth and Talim could be largest and smallest sizes. Mortal Kombat Armageddon also had a character creation mode but it wasn't much better than SC 3. I think something like what the WWE games have could be used as a base, maybe not so great into detail but something more close to that.

I think that Dynasty Warriors 5 had the sort of thing that I'd like to see, to be honest. The size changing, different hair, clothing, genders, weapons, and in some of the Mortal Kombat games, the choice of fighting style was impressive. I never made one in SCIII, so I haven't had the chance to try it out, but it was something I looked forward to in III after getting II.

If it was something you were looking forward to, why didn't you use it, Mishtram? XD
The SC3 Character Creation was okay. They only had a few select voices, and 90% of the faces were ugly. ^^ I never played Dynasty Warrior 5 though. I think they can definately improve on Character Creation though. And having more movesets, or customizable movesets would be amazing. -------------------

I borrowed the game from a friend, and he stole it back the next day. I didn't get much time to play with it, unfortunately. Dynasty Warriors 5 and the ability to chose between a number of different fighting styles which was one of the reasons I liked it, but you were limited to the styles other, more prominent characters used. =/ Mortal KJombat: Armageddon had a creation system which was worth mentioning from what I did with it, and it had some interesting choices for characters as well.

re: Character Creation |

The Creation system in SC3 was simular.
There were "classes" you could unlock, which granted you movesets to choose from (each with their own weapon) and you coudl also unlock "Souls" which granted you an actual character's moveset. For example, The Samurai Class would get to choose from movesets consisting of weapons like swords, and the "Soul" of Mitsurugi and Yoshimitsu. The character creation specific movesets are inferior to the actual character movesets, of course, with only two throws each, and a much smaller movelist. Still, there were some exceptions that were quite pleasant. ~~~~ I think you should've bought SC3 yourself! It's a great game. But I guess if you ever plan on getting an SC game, it'd be SCIV and not SCIII. XD -------------------

re: Character Creation |
quote Ray_MasamunePossibly because they are pretty much like the real characters. So they try to differentiate between them. I'd like to see stand-alone fighting style or more to pick from to make each character more unique. Yes, Mortal Kombat is one to note, you could set up different attacks regardless of fighting style so maybe something similar could be done for this game.

BRING IT BACK..
It's good to make your own character.. (OMG, I have posted almost all of the threads here) ------------------- everyone lives bound by their own knowledge and awareness. that’s called reality.
but knowledge and awareness are vague, and perhaps better called illusions.

Source: EGM July Issue Interview quote Daishi Odashima - level designer: game system design ~~~~ ...Interesting. We know it will definately be back, but it looks like they're really trying to offer us plenty more this time. Hopefully, that means more in the command list department as well, and not just the appearances. I'm also interested to find out how the character's attire will affect gameplay. -------------------

quote Ray_MasamuneRarely have I seen a characters attire affect gameplay, same with Soul Calibur. But I'm glad to see that it's going to be expanded upon, hopefully the online thing will make it more interesting.

quote Seung2 Voldo SC3 costume is too disturbing, SC4 should be a chimera of WWE SVR detail, Mortal Kombat flaming skills and dragon wing items and add it to the SC3 character creation. There should be a job that allows you to pick any fighting move and it can work with a Necrid Esq weapon. (Onion Knight) ------------------- DOG![]()

I hope there's more flexibility with the character creations. Most of mine in SCIII ended up looking pretty much the same. Attire affecting gameplay is a brilliant idea, and hopefully it'll be quite a major factor. I'd also like to see Moveset customization, although I'm not sure to what extent that's possible.

re: Character Creation |
quote Seung2But they said that your character's appearance and different parts will affect the gameplay. Maybe having more armor would give you a higher defense at the cost of er... walk speed? They probably just mean size though. Having everything tweak your character would be too complicated. If done right though, it would be interesting. -------------------

What I hated was that certain classes had significantly inferior stats to others, meaning it could be difficult to use certain disciplines well. I understand the whole swordmaster thing, but I couldn't pwn with Yun Seoung on CotS.
