The 360's D-Pad |
|
Is anyone else worried that the 360's D-Pad isn't up to the task of taking and performing precise input combos. One of few things I envy about PS3 owners is the D-Pad on the controller seems to take input better the the 360's cheap clunky one. I doubt it would happen, but I really wish they'd release a revised version of the controller with a better D-Pad and such.
Anyone else feel this way? ------------------- The Soul STILL burns! This time in a 360* motion.

I've never been fond of the Xbox D-pad for fighting games. Which is why I prefer PS fighting games.
This forum is pretty dead compared to the PS3 SC4 Forum. If any of you own a PS3, you should drop by there. ^^ -------------------

DoA works well for the 360 controller. Controls for that game are perfect. The 360 controller is best designed for the shooters out there, imo...don't think it'll work well with SC's setup, could be wrong, though.

I never really used the dpad for a fighter, so I dont really see it as a problem. And when you compare forum actvity of the cross-platforms notice that there arent really as many worthwhile games for the other console so the 360s community is more spread out.

The directional pad of both the Xbox and Xbox 360 controllers aren't that great when it comes to fighters, but are thankfully quite precise. They just feel a lot more awkward in use than those on the PlayStation 3 controller. Looks like the analogue stick (which is also precise on both systems) will be the way to go.

I think this thread is a good one becuase ive asked myself the same thing about the d-pad but ive found that after playing fighting games on the 360 like guilty gear, DoA, Marvel vs Capcom2, and SVC Chaos, that ive adjusted to the d-pad on the controller whihc isnt that big of a deal. it feels awkward at first but its pretty accurate for me.
ill have to agree with the above person aswell becuase i think the analog stick might be the way to go with SC4. im already used to using the joystick in SC3 and never found the d-pad neccesary. ------------------- Currently Playing: Dissidia:Final Fantasy, [Prototype],Blazblue, Tenchu Z

360 controller > PS3 controller, however, PS3 D-pad > 360 D-pad

I only use the D-Pad for DOA4 nothing else, however the D-Pad is still akward when you have to do half circle attacks.

^ I agree with the half circle thing, though I think once you get the hang of it its fine. Ive been Playin Soul Caliber (one) on the 360 and i havent found any problems, i got the acheivement for Ivys summon whatevr move and that twists and turns on the D-pad and I was able to do it pretty consecutively.

Use the stick for circle attacks, but other than that the D-Pad just takes some getting used to. After a while you wont even notice that its awkward until after you win (:
