[RMT] Help me not suck (Out of Practice) |
|
First off, if you don't have a decent amount of skill, please don't comment. I'd really appreciate it if you comment, do so in an intelligent way.
Gallade (M) @ Lum Berry Ability: Steadfast EVs: 116 HP/200 Atk/192 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Hypnosis - Swords Dance - Close Combat - Shadow Sneak Awesome EV spread. Survives Timid Gengar's Shadow Ball, outruns Jolly TTar, survives a CB TTar's Pursuit even if I switch (And thus, Weavile). Really, an amazing lead. Miss Piggy (Mamoswine) (F) @ Choice Band Ability: Snow Cloak EVs: 64 HP/252 Atk/192 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Stone Edge - Ice Shard - Bite Self explanatory set from Smogon. Hit hard: fast. It is the intended star... but Gallade stole that spot. Anyway, it works well with Gyara's Electricity weakness, but it is rather hard to get in. Lucario (F) @ Life Orb Ability: Steadfast EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Extremespeed - Close Combat - Crunch Standard SDLuke. Awesome Pokemon, but considering using Bullet Punch over Crunch for Gengars. Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Intimidate EVs: 112 HP/252 Atk/44 Def/100 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Dragon Dance - Waterfall - Stone Edge - Taunt I was browsing battles and I saw your EV spread and set, Nightwing. I took it (sorry, hope you don't mind D: ). Anyway, it's worked out decently. Spiritomb (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Pressure EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SAtk Bold nature (+Def, -Atk) - Rest - Sleep Talk - Calm Mind - Dark Pulse CM SleepTomb. Great set, although it has disappointed me, although it isn't completely useless. I don't know what to do with it, but please help. Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Thick Fat EVs: 244 HP/28 Def/236 SDef Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Rest - Sleep Talk - Whirlwind - Body Slam Elliot's Snorlax which has actually worked in this team. Safe switch in almost all the time from Gallade. Please, help me. And, anyone, I would like to practice and regain my former skills. Anyone helping would be appreciated (By that, I mean someone who is skilled). Feel free to suggest most anything, but I believe most weaknesses here are covered. The only one that I'm unlikely to change is Gallade. ------------------- ![]()

Weezing may be a bit of a Wall problem here but i think you would be able to get a hypnosis in before he gets a will-o-wisp in if somes out to gallade. (that's why i like psycho cut.)
i wouldn't switch crunch for bullet punch. gengar shoudn't be a problem for Spititomb and Snorlax. ------------------- ![]() Thanks Phenomena for Avvie

I forgot completely about Spiritomb when I mentioned that.
Gengar is a huge threat to Snorlax. Trust me, Gengar wins it. Nindragon and I had a 20 minute stall-fest: Gengar vs Snorlax. I had no moves to dispatch it, so Lax was eventually defeated once its SpDef was lowered. But, yeah: I forgot about Spiritomb altogether. Speaking of Spiritomb, I'm considering using a different set. I don't know: it just doesn't seem to... work in here. <_> ------------------- ![]()

i also suggest HP fighting so you can at least hit everything for neutral.
gengar is completely destroyed if they work together. Oh and i like these attack for Snorlax ~Yawn ~Whirlwind ~Zen headbutt ~Body Slam that solves all my Gengar problems ------------------- ![]() Thanks Phenomena for Avvie

If I do so on Spiritomb, then I lose Calm Mind.
I'm really not concerned with hitting everything for neutral, as after a few Calm Minds, Spiritomb is going to be doing fine with Dark Pulse alone. Or... I don't know. I'm considering Hypnosis + Cm/NP with HP Fighting and Dark Pulse... but, I'm not sure. <_> I might just scrap the entire team, but dammit, I really don't know about most anything at the moment. quote Trixster99I'd lose the Sleep Talker portion of my Snorlax, which is necessary for its survival. Yawn and Whirlwind are unnecessary together, though. ------------------- ![]()

those two are the only ones i would probably change.
everything is going to let you down sometime. even though i would suggest Shadow Ball + Hp Fighting. a Sleep Talk set could peform with adjustments. ------------------- ![]() Thanks Phenomena for Avvie

I don't mind at all, infact I'm honored. Well, it's a bit worrying that you only have one special attacker and it's defense oriented. But I spose there aren't many walls that give you too many problems, so it should be okay. As far as Spiritomb goes, consider using Pain Split as recovery instead of Rest-Talk, that frees up a space for either Substitute or Hidden Power. Hidden Power would probably fit better here, but never underestimate the power of subcm.

on spiritomb i would suggest making it physical and switching something else on your team to a special attack user, i say this because btoh persuit and shadow sneak are physical and would stop your slight gengar weakness and as nightwing said, pain split is an option for healing instead and then so you can actually make use of persuits effect put a status attack on tombs last slot to try force switches and therefor being able to use persuit well. its up to you.
dont change snorlax, i also use that set and i find it very useful. i actually won against gengar with my snorlax as i got down to struggle and hit it hard lol it took really long but i actually won!!! lol as for the lack of special attack i would suggestswitching either luke or mamoswine. -------------------

quote Nightwing7Oythxu <3 I'm actually going to do that. What HP + Move combo would you recommend? DarkFight or GhostFight? I forgot which is better. quote bobuelNo idea what you're saying there. Physical spiritombs are inferior in every respect. No physical buffing moves, and this isn't a starter. Please, research before you give advice: really what I asked in my post (Sorry, the truth can hurt). This wasn't helpful, so I advise you to practice. Moreso than I. edit: Blah, typo. Is that an offensive team I see orez? I never thought I'd see something like this from you...
The first thing I noticed when I read through that was just how Physically orientated you were; only one of your six Pokemon contains a Special attack, and it's not even a particularly strong attack at that. Admittedly you don't run into as much trouble as a Special team against a Bliss (bane of my existence), but it does make it hard to take down certain walls. As Nightwing said though, not a huge problem although it may be something you want to consider. I believe it is Ghost/Fighting that is unresisted. Stuff like Hera resist the Dark/Fighting combination. -------------------

re: [RMT] Help me not suck (Out of Practice) |
quote AjnidehsI'm not really sure, but I admittedly don't like how this team's worked and that might be so. Last night... err... early this morning, whatever, I considered building a stall team. Really, I'm not sure what's wrong with this thing but, it lacks something. quote AjnidehsAll true. That makes me think of this: make Luke a special variant. I'm honestly thinking of going for a Bulky Calm Mind set, although having 2 CM-ers does worry me. Making Luke a Specs user could work, but I'm not sure I'd like a non-CB Mamo. quote AjnidehsAh, thanks. I'll go with Ghost/Fight. quote AjnidehsBelieve it or not, it is unintended. I wanted to use Mamoswine so badly. I made a team around defeating its counters. Lucario and Gallade do that well, while the others cover the weak points in the team. Originally, I had intended to use a Sleep Talk Gyarados set after I had heard how well it worked... sadly, 3 sleep talkers isn't the best thing in the world. I rushed into the decision of making Lax and Tomb both STers, really. I intended this to be way more defensive, but that didn't work out. Blah, I just prefer playing defensively. <_< Anyhow, I'm going to try out these changes in a few minutes by... attempting to Ladder. edit: 4 hours after post: I laddered and increased my rank from new account standards (100, I believe) to 1200 with the team performing pretty well. Lucario Set: @ Leftovers Timid Steadfast 180 HP / 180 Spe / The rest in SpA (I forgot the amount) - Substitute - Calm Mind - Vacuum Wave - Hidden Power Ice Spiritomb Set: Same nature and EVs - Calm Mind - Pain Split - Shadow Ball - Hidden Power Fighting Really, those things alone have done so much. Thanks, guys. Although I still got defeated by Sixth Sense. I let Mamoswine fall asleep... and I have a tad Swampert weakness it seems. Oh, and Bronzong is potential trouble, although I don't think it would be too bad. [size=1][color=#666666]This message was edited by orez on Aug 27 2008. ------------------- ![]()
