NEWS FLASH!!!!

Tranmere Boss Resigns

Fans of Tranmere Rovers Football Club awakened this morning to hear the shocking news Ronnie Moore had resigned as manager of the club. Having only been in a charge for approximately three weeks, Ronnie Moore decided that his future lay elsewhere after struggling to adapt to life at Prenton Park.

Chairwoman, Lorraine Rogers had this to say:

quote Loraine Rogers
I cannot express just how disappointed I am in Ronnie’s decision. We are now in a position where we are looking for our second manager in less than a month. It can have a pretty negative effect on clubs like ours; I therefore hope we can resolve this matter as soon as possible.

NEWS FLASH!!!!

Tranmere announced Miles as new manager

Just two days later Tranmere Rovers Football Club have announced that rookie Liam Miles is the new manager of the club. With Miles’s only previous experience coming from playing and managing a Sunday league team, bookies are already making him favourite to be sacked first.

After being approached by a journalist, Liam Miles gave the following statement:

quote Liam Miles
I can feel the excitement building up inside me already. It’s such a great achievement on my half and I am determined to make it a great achievement all-round by making this club successful. Not many people know me but I can guarantee by the end of the season I will be a known figure throughout the country and a figure held in high regard by the Tranmere faithful.
Meanwhile Loraine Rogers had to defend herself against the criticism for her decision to hire this virtually unknown manager:

quote Loraine Rogers
Out of the 3 candidates we spoke to, Liam Miles was the one who stood out; he had the passion, the enthusiasm, the commitment that is needed to manage this football club. I have the utmost respect and confidence that Liam Miles can end our spell in League One and get us promoted to the Championship within a few years – that is our goal as a club.
It is rumoured that the new manager of Tranmere has been given a transfer budget of £60,000 with 80% of transfer sales getting added onto that. Miles has already stated his desire to evaluate the current crop of players at the club before deciding whether to dip into the transfer market for fresh blood.

re: Tranmere SOMS - Championship Here We Come!

Good start so far. Pretty much following the general format set by other SOMS threads.

You don't need to put "SOMS" in the thread title since you're posting in the FM Stories forum.

re: Tranmere - 4 Friendlies Up! + New Announcement!

5th July 2006

PRESS CONFERENCE!!!!

Tranmere boss speaks to press for first time today!

quote Liverpool 4 Eva
Surely your realistic target is for the play-offs, but with a good squad and some good signings are you looking for automatic promotion from League One?
quote Liam Miles
I feel that with enough luck my team can make the play-offs, yes that is the realistic target I have. Automatic promotion?... I don’t want to sound too negative but there are many good sides in this league and automatic promotion may be a bit too much of an ask, but having said that anything’s is possible.
quote Lazzara
Who are your transfer targets for this season?
quote Liam Miles
Obviously I’m not going to give names out for all the obvious reasons, however, I can confirm that I am looking at players particularly another goalkeeper. As a club we don’t have lots of money to spend so it looks like only loan deals and free transfers will be how we get new players this season.
quote David Davies(Liverpool Echo
Everybody across the country is baffled as to how you got the Tranmere job before much more experienced candidates. Did it come as a shock for yourself?
quote Liam Miles
I always have the utmost confidence in myself but if I’m honest I was shocked to get the job but also very pleased and excited about getting the job.
quote Paula O’Brien(Daily Mirror)
Myself included, not many people know much about you, your background etc. Can you tell us how you were involved in football before taking up this job?
quote Liam Miles
Sure. Before taking the Tranmere job I was a manager of a local Sunday League side whom I used to play for before that. Basically as bizarrely as it sounds that’s the only experience I have in football.
quote Dominic Watts(Metro)
How much of a proud moment will it be when you take charge of Tranmere for the first time, as correct me if I’m wrong, you’re a life long Tranmere fan?
quote Liam Miles
That’s correct I have supported Tranmere since I was ten. It will be the proudest moment of my life so far when I take charge for the first time at Prenton Park. Already I cannot wait for that day to arrive, the excitement, the thrill its just amazing.
quote Liam Miles
Thank for your questions, that’s all for now.

8th July 2006

Match Update – Tranmere Vs Derby

Match Preview

Tranmere Team to play Derby:

Achterberg

Stockdale – Goodison – Thompson – Cansdell-Sherriff

Shuker – Mullin – McLaren – Ellison

Taylor - Greenacre

In both sides first friendly of the season, it was Derby who emerged victorious. Arturo Lupoli of Derby converted Ryan Smith’s low cross to give his side the lead. On the 36 minute mark fans witnessed a remarkable goal by Paul McLaren after he hit a volley first time from 30 yards into the top right hand corner. Derby hit back just before half-time with a headed goal from David Jones from a corner. The second half saw very little action until Seth Johnson scored a sublime curling free kick around the ball watching Tranmere wall from 25 yards out. Once again Tranmere hit back at Derby with substitute Calvin Zola running onto a through ball to smash the ball into the bottom left hand corner. Derby weren’t finished however as Darren Moore converted a header from his sides corner in injury time. Derby ran out 4-2 winners.

quote Journalist
How do you feel your side performed today?
quote Liam Miles
Today was only a friendly and I was pleased with how my team conducted themselves against opposition of a higher league; however I was deeply concerned about conceding 2 goals from set pieces. That is something I will be working on this week in training. Having said that, overall I am very pleased with the effort my team showed today.

The size one font would make it look a lot better, in my opinion.

Match Update – Tranmere Vs West Bromwich Albion

Tranmere faced their second championship side friendly in the space of 4 days. This time the visitors where West Bromwich Albion. Albion got off to a great start finding themselves four nil up after 21 minutes. Those goals came courtesy of two John Hartson headed goals from crosses from both flanks, a sublime 25 yarder from Richard Chaplow and a fortunate own goal from Tranmere’s Chris Shuker where the shot was destined to go wide but deflected in of Shuker. Tranmere got their act together and launched a comeback. Firstly Gareth Taylor latched onto a poor backpass from WBA’s Jonathan Greening and calmly placed the ball in the back of the net. In reverse fortunes Tranmere where the gifted an own goal for WBA after substitute goalkeeper Luke Daniels wasn’t paying attention as Neil Clement passed the ball back from 30 yards. Jason McAteer earned an converted a free on the hour mark from 25 yards out in the bottom right hand corner leaving goalkeeper Luke Daniels stationary. Tranmere pressed and pressed for the equaliser but it wasn’t to be, Nathan Ellington found himself in behind the defence and 1 on 1 with Tranmere keeper John Achterberg; he cheekily rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home into the empty net. West Bromwich Albion ran out eventual 5-3 winners.

quote Journalist
We just witnessed a truly entertaining pre-season friendly, what is your take on the game?
quote Liam Miles
It was certainly entertaining for the fans, true, but for me I was far from entertained at the end of the match. Don’t get me wrong I’m not angry with my team, I’m just so disappointed that we found ourselves four nil down after 21 minutes. Having said that though I’m pleased with the effort my side gave after that and to get three goals against a promotion chasing Championship sides speaks dividends about our attacking as a team, but at the moment we are just not defending right or as a team.

re: Tranmere - Season 4 - Quarter Final Draw Up and 12th League Game Up!!!

i think its a really good soms but the updates should be a bit bigger imo
what i mean is instead of having one friandly game in every update u should put at least 3 friendlies in every one but then for competitive matches change that back
thats only my opinion though;)
