What kind of game is this? (moves/challenge/etc) |
|
There are fighting games that boil down to button mashing. Is this one of them?
What kind of special moves do characters have? How difficult is it to perform attacks? How good is the AI in this game? Any difficulty levels and how effective are they? How does this game compare to other similar games on the PS2? ------------------- RFS: part of the solution. Do-it-yourself Americans stand up and be counted.

The characters have awesome special moves.
It's only difficult the first few times. The AI is great. The difficulty levels in this game accurately change the AI to fit. If you want easy, you GET easy. If you want hard, you GET hard. It's better than Tekken games, because it's more fluent. It's easier to control than Soul Calibur 3. However, it's not 3D. I hope that doesn't bother you. And to answer the red text, I would NOT recomment mindless button mashing in this game. The good combos rarely occur unless you TRY to make them occur, and the AI characters can plow through a button mash fest. ------------------- My Brute

Button mash? No. Not for fighting. Maybe, MAYBE, only if you are trying to find ...the hidden moves.
The specials...think in terms of Street Fighter. More like techniques. Its.. -Specials: Normal type specials, usually just a unique attack. Like a typical shoryuken, with more detail and effects. some dash, some combo, some are stances, some are counters etc. Rare ones can be combo'd into a "forcebreak", and then into an overdrive. Another advanced technique is to "force roman cancel" it, to take off lag, and to produce wicked combos -ForceBreaks: Attacks, that generally have more advantage (priority really doesnt exist). Like enhanced little specials. -Overdrives: The cream of the crop. These are those cinematic moves, that are deadly. Not killer, but effective. Some can be "FCR'd " as well, making them combo material. -InstantKill: Name says it all. short range, some suck, but this is the kinda attack you see in dragon ball z games. Once it hits, game over. Some are cool (Axl Low), some suck...Faust gets an afro. Attacks are easy. Just practice, and switch to analog mode. Like w00tageseven said, but in survival, is where it gets tricky. Early on, its easy. Every 20 major hits you land on the enemy, a "daredevil"comes. Its a blackened version of a character, but with deadlier moves, and infinite overdrives. After wiping these guys out (they are the true enemy, they are based one levels of intervals of 20, while normal enemies are your normal score), you fight gold i believe. At the end, it gets hard. See above post. In survival mode, its like the computer learns about you. Yes, better. Music is awesome, referrences are nice. Graphics are sprites, but good sprites, and awesome. Backgrounds are cool, and its the prime of a fighter. GGXXAC is actually a tweaked game, similar to Tekken Dark Resurrection, in that they improved its gameplay. But, its near perfect, as they have done this 3 times before, making it great. Get the game, play it, love it, go to a tournament.

quote GuardianGriffen1)awesome moves 2)none of the special moves themselves are hard to preform, but a lot of em have special properties and follow-ups and or can be canceled ie. RCed or FRCed 3)the AI is realy just typical AI, always jumping and reading your inputs 4)best fighting game on the ps2 period! I know i'm almost a year too late in response, but I'm board and felt like posting
