tales of innocence release world wide |
|
okay for some people who are trying to figure out if tales of innocence will be released out of japan let me tell you something japan only ships games to us worldwide if it makes enough sales in japan and so i heared that tales of innocence made about 100,000 dollars and japan is a pretty small country
so id say that bandi namco are pretty satisfied and so there thinking that if tales of innocence made that much money in japan then imagine how much it will make worldwide so they are bound to release it worldwide then

Sorry, not to beat around the bush or anything, but I have say my piece.
Number one, saying that if a game does well in Japan means it will be released in America is not always the case. In fact, if i recall correctly, Tales of Destiny 2 (japan version, not Tales of Eternia) did quite well when it first came out. The same applies to Tales of Destiny Directors Cut I believe. So why didnt they come out over here? Youre forgetting that developers have to look at things like 'if the came were to be released there, would it really do well?'. And to be honest, I think that is what decides if games get released outside japan, as even games that did poorly in Japan (No More Heroes) have been released worldwide simply because the developer felt it would do well in other countries. I am not denying the fact that sales may have an impact on whether games get released outside Japan, but I dont think its a major factor, and comes mainly down to the anicipation of the product (which can can come in all shapes and forms) and how popular its genre is in other countries. *breathe* Number two. There is a new Tales game coming to DS. Now, im not saying im right here, but if you ask me, if any tales game coming out on DS gets released over here, it'll be the new one. I don't see why Namco would go back to Innocence to get that released, when a new and improved (hopefully) tales game is in the making. Surely this new tales game coming out in English would put a better impression on the American market? And finally, Number Three. There was a contradiction in your testimony. Judging from what you just said, you seemed quite opinionated, and less focussed on facts. Which suggests to me that your source for this information isnt very reliable, which is why id suggest we wait for a proper announcement. Ummm... I think thats it. Well, this is just what I think. And who knows, there could be an official announcement in a couple of days time and all my ramblings would be for nothing. My, wouldnt that be funny. One last thing, I dont believe we needed to start new thread. Couldnt this have been contained in your previous one?

Well, it's just a rumor, but if you look in here you'll see that there is a New Tales Game listed as a DS game. It maybe just be a trick or something, but you never know. -------------------

It saids JP / A for the new NDS Tales, my guess would be that "A" stands for Asia. So don't get your hopes up too high, it might fall hard.

Im a tad confused. Are you suggesting that this JP/A means we'll never see this new game see the light of day in english, or are you suggesting that this game may never come to be?

That's true, but that's Final Fantasy. There's almost always a guarantee that a Final Fantasy game would come in English. Tales, on the other hand, has a pretty sketchy history of games not coming here. Though more are coming out these days.
If only they had the guts to bring over Innocence. >_> -------------------

I guess they like to go for the safe option of keeping the games in japan where they are most popular.
...See? Not a single Phoenix Wright reference XD

well they should send tales of innocence to america because if they are afraid then why on earth are they sending us a tales game to 360 everyone knows that japan hates 360

Actually, it makes more sense that they're sending Vesperia over to us.
You said yourself that the 360 isn't the most popular console in Japan at the moment. Yet the 360 in America and Europe is has mustered up some love for itself. So it makes sense that they would send it over here in English, because the safe option of keeping it japan only is, well, no longer an option.

With this Tales game they wanted from the beginning to be able to release it worldwide (or at least they came to want too do that).
If they'd chosen the PS3, yes, it probably would've done well in Japan, but not in America and Europe, as the PS3 isn't the most popular console there. They could've done it on Wii, but there was tales game already in the works for that console, and I think that they probably wanted to experiment with a tales game on a another console instead of just going for Wii.These options probably wouldn't be the greatest declaration for a Tales games to come quickly out of Japan. So, instead they went for the 360,simply because its one of the most popular consoles in other countries, which they most likely thought would be a safer option for a tales game coming out of Japan. When it comes to the poor sales and popularity of the 360 in Japan, I think Namco Bandai think that the popularity of the tales series in Japan will be enough to carry themselves through that and still be successful with the games sales in Japan (maybe also the reason for that limited edition vesperia package is to tempt Japanese gamers to buying the 360 for the game). P.S And thanks Hoa for the hyperlink code.
