re: Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World Countdown: It's here!

I'm not sure that Tales will receive as much of an initial sales boost through adverts here in the US. The first installment was widely popular throughout the west, of course my local Gamestop only has about five pre orders so it looks like it's shaping up to be released in a similar fashion to ToS. It'll probably gain some publicity after the first few weeks, commercials or posters usually spring up around here by then.

Heh. I have the chance of getting this game early(like at least 1 day early). And it will be easy to get since nobody in my town buys wii games.

The nearest ebgames near me said they are getting it the 12th. I thought it came out the 11th! Oh well, I may as well call the gamestop in the mall 5 minutes away from my closest one...

The 11th is when it'll ship. small games/40 or under wii games/20 or under DS games like this ship On release and usually don't get opened untill the next day.

Yes, TOS:DotNW counts as a "small game" since it's only 40$

^ Not always the case, that's just the suggested retail anyway. Outside of specialty stores where I live it'll be displayed at a value of USD $44.95, of course sales tax isn't applicable to all states in the continental US.

Quite few retail stores will release upon opening the day of the release - of course it really comes down to their shipment dates.

That's true. I kinda bought the original by accident. Went in the game store for another game and they didin't have it. I saw the game and it looked interesting enough. I never saw ToS advertised anywhere, so I was surprised to hear it sold so many copies.

re: Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World Countdown: It's here!

I remember when the first was being released, it was being discussed in one of my local GameStops between the employees and some of the customers. I didn't know what the game was about and I didn't buy ToS for a year or so later. There's been pretty much no advertising on the TV for it, but gamers around my area seem to know about this series already.

I got my gamecube like, 3 years after the gamecube came out. I first played ToS with my friend Jake, but we got completely owned. Then, like, 6 years later, we borrowed the game from my cousins. I didn't know what it was either, but I remembered it, and beat it with minimal help (I only need help with weightless puzzles and Palmacosta Ranch). I had no idea this was coming out, but then I saw it in someone's sig

Couldn't have been 6 years later, as ToS came out in the summer of 2004 More like 3-4 years later. I have a habit of getting stuck on games and taking off awhile too, then returning and beating the missions I was stuck on quickly.

re: Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World Countdown: It's here!

Very true, quite a few games that ship out post continental a year or two after their initial release don't tend to receive as much publicity in North America - maybe not so until a sequel is released or announced. I'm fairly sure the original Tales of Symphonia fell into that same boat, and it's more than likely that along with last generation sales deteriorating that we never saw the PS2 version of the game outside of Japan. (It came with the original orchestrates from earlier games in the series, nothing else differed from the GameCube version though.)

I'm sure that with Dawn of the New World being released exclusively on the Wii it'll rack up sales quicker and with more longevity than it's counterpart Tales of Vesperia, which sold relatively well in it's first few weeks. The Wii sells knockoff games like gold, it'll sell a good one twice over.

re: Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World Countdown: It's here!

Are you sure it's not an import copy?

I remember first playing ToS from renting it. I loved it but got stuck at that Wind Temple boss. Then rented like 3 more times after that. Eventually, I finally found it used at EB games.

Oh, and in celebration of this game, I decided to play it again today and FINALLY beat Abyssion. He was quite fun to beat and not as deadly hard once I figured out to use an All-Divide.

My brother's killed him once, because that's the only time he finished the game and knew about him. He got totally whacked the first time (he was dead in like, 2 minutes). He tried again the next day, used an all-divide, and said he was really easy.
