Is there some secret to beating this race...i cant seem to do it.

Yeah, I am also having trouble with this - it is all I need to unlock the S-Class events! How is this possible? The best I have done is 6th!

yerr ive tried and tried best ive dun is 5th !starting to do my head in now....

Setting your transmission to manual helps, too.

The video above shows how to do the last chicane before the final turn onto the banked turn of the oval. However, this runis a "silver". To get gold, you must have passed 2 cars after the first turn, and pass the Ferrari 380 at the 2nd turn. Passing the 2 cars requires braking late and then squeezing between the Aston and the left pit entry wall, virtually pushing the 2 cars to the right. You will be drafting the Ferrari into turn2, and pass him on the inside. After doing the chicane as above, you should be right behind the #2 car, draft and slingshot to draft behind the #1, hopefully passing him right at the line.

If you go through the pit on the first turn you can overtake 2 cars.

Nah you don't have to do all this. If you don't know already Manual Gears do help but are tricky to master. But I suggest that you turn traction control off and slip stream the other cars. Also try ramming and using the other cars to help you around the corners as you wont get penalties coz they only start in the S Class.

As in the above video taking the last chicane is vital, big tip... cut the corners!

i completed that by coming 2nd. you just have to ram every one and cut the last corner.

I did it a little while ago, but only just got bronze - I had to do every bit of slipstreaming i could to even get that, and I even cut some grassy corners (since in Class A there are no penalties) but couldn't do better than that.
