What's it like as a standalone game? |
|
I'm seriously considering buying this, though spending $50 on this and $120 on GT5 doesn't really appeal to me...So how is it as a standalone game? Does it have many (offline) races? Is the gameplay system similar to the old games, where you buy cars and pick events to use them in?

There are 4 classes of races, C, B, A and S, with ten races in each. Some manufacturers have their own races. But with just six tracks, it gets old fast.

Not worth $50 when the full game might be here in a little while? But I so badly want it...I wish it was cheaper, we could get cashback on the game, or the DEMO was still up =[

IF we get GT5 soon, then no, GT5P isn't worth it, imo, but if the full game is indeed a year away, go for Prologue.
It's been pretty quiet lately, when it comes to Gran Turismo-related news... -------------------

Well on play.comit says it's coming out in September but I wouldn't rely on play's dates until its within a month or two of what it says

Again the question pops up. Let me start by saying I LOVE PlayStation and am Loyal to them. So as the enemies at Xbox would say its just a "GLORIFIED DEMO".. YES it is just a demo, but such is the quality of it, it is so good it beats ANYTHING the Xbox 360 has to offer. So is why many people call it a game in its own right.
I agree although if it is 50 Dollars in America it does seem a little expensive but the game is shipped with some Packages of PS3. At the moment in Ireland the game is 20 Euros new. The game has 74 cars you can buy. There are 4 Classes of events Class C up to Class S with 10 races in each Class. Unlocking Class S by beating Class A gives you access to the Quick Tune menu where you can modify certain parts of the car. Some Manufacturers have some events aswell. There are 6 tracks to race on BUT I must point out that the tracks have various layouts to them aswell as being able to race on them in reverse direction. Even though this is just a fraction of what the full Gran Turismo 5 will be like it still beats most if not all other FULL Games out there. MY advice is...buy it, you wont beleive it till you play it! if money is tight I say SAVE like there is no tomorrow!! This message was edited by IrishStar on Jun 17 2009. Sounds great. And you're right, with 74 cars it's as good as any NFS game, ever. But I'll buy it when it comes out. And with GT Mobile coming out finally, that should tide me over.
I wish it came with my PS3, I didn't need ProStreet or Army of Two! -------------------
