Duel Wielding

Well duel wielding guns has been confirmed but in this screen it shows you can wield a gun and the sword at the same time and also wield a sword when you're on a bike.

So what do you guys think of this addition?

I personally like it as it looks quite cool and it'll be fun slashing peds as you go really fast on your bike.

Here is the link to the screen-

Wow nice! I think they took a great tip from Halo II and III, which you can dual wield two different weapons.

Man, the more I hear about this game the more excited I get.

Very nice. That feature would be a cool addition, but the screenshot you posted could be from a cutscene, you know.

Yeah it could be but I really hope it isn't as it looks really cool.

Still, other than being a novelty, I really don't see the point in wielding a gun and a katana at once in an intense gunfight.(Although it'd be a lot of fun) An uzi and a shotgun would be better. Maybe they could have you dual wield a pistol and a knife and give you stealth missions where you could go all Solid Snake and CQC goons. I really enjoyed that stealth mission in SA, actually. Hope they have that silencer in this game.

That's a cutscene image and it's an enemy character holding the sword. I'll bet the farm that you won't be able to weild melee weapons while on a bike, or weild two different weapons at once in-game. The controls would be too complicated.

Why? They could (if the aiming while driving mechanics and conrtols in SR are the same as IV) they could have the button which normaly shoots a gun while in a vehicle function as the katana one, and for dual wield, they could have different button for firing left handed and right handed weapons, for example, L2 and R2.

Swords? AWESOME!

Cutscenes are pretty much a thing of the past my friend. I can't remember the last 'new' game I saw one in. If it's happening there, you can be almost sure it'll happen in-game.

I'm sure I misunderstood your post... Cutscenes, a thing of the past? On the contrary, there are more cutscnes in games these days compared to the classic games.

re: Duel Wielding

Yeah that didn't seem to make much sense to me either...I think he meant FMV or pre-rendered cutscenes. But to me, if the camera is a mile away and not focused on the player character (The baldie in the wifebeater), then it's a story scene for my money, and not gameplay footage. Add in the fact that weilding a melee weapon on a bike would be fairly pointless (Could be okay for a Road Rash side attack on another vehicle, but otherwise why not just run them over, or use a gun in the first place?), and I still say this won't happen in-game.

Still seperate weapon dual-weilding could happen and the controls could potentially support it (Wasn't there seperate buttons for punching and kicking in SR?) I'd like to see it, I just think it's very unlikely. More likely I reckon they'll introduce a button that controls lock-ons, because there seems to be more emphasis on melee fighting, what with the fight club option. Punching and kicking was sort of hit and miss before and looked a bit odd if you were facing away from the opponent. I'm probably wrong though.

I just reckon that if you could actually do this sort of stuff in the game, Volition would have been announcing it from the rooftops, like the planes and choppers, it's a fairly major gameplay factor, more so than things like the sewage truck.

^^ Well I would imagine if you carry more of the same gun at a time then you'd do more damage.

I'd like to see dual wielding, but only if we have to work for it. Similar to how it is in San Andreas.

This is exactly what I meant. I can't remember the last new game where I saw a 'story' scene as you call them. They're all cutscenes using in-game graphics and the in-game engine these days, meaning, if something is possible in a cutscene, then it's possible in gameplay terms.

re: Duel Wielding

Now you're just being pedantic and it's making you sound childish. The other day you couldn't remember seeing a cutscene in any recent games, now all games have them? I make it clear I know exactly what you're getting at, irrelevant though it is, and you ignore all that and quote one sentence in my post out of context in an attempt to make me look stupid, and try and claw back some ground?

It makes zero difference whether the cinematics in the game are pre-rendered or use the game engine, I'm talking about the simple distinction between the parts of the game that you control, and the parts that you don't. And since I can't see how you could possibly not know that, I've got to assume that you're just being deliberately obtuse.

With that out of the way I will say that yes, cinematics that use the game engine mean that anything you see in a cutscene can potentially be programmed to happen during gameplay. That doesn't mean that these things will happen during gameplay. A lot of times they may not be practical. The shots we've seen so far are likely just mock-ups anyway, and I won't get my hopes up until I see this stuff happening in a trailer.
