Crashing

Now, I've had this game for a few days but I've not been able to get beyond a short bit on dialogue for the opening. I've read up on a lot of problems people have with hardware incompatibility and whatever, and it all seems to come down to connecting with Windows Live. The amazingly horrible thing about this game on PC is that, without conection to Windows live, you don't got no game saves, states, or configuration options... All of that is stored on this server, which you need to register into and log in everytime you boot up. Amazing huh?

Why I get an error whenever I try to get into playing, I don't know, there hasn't been a solution for me yet, I just wait for a patch right now. I mean, this absolutely shouldn't be my fault or my systems. It's a mid-high (check profile) and I like to think I know what I'm doing with software. The Live connection is only the start of the trouble though it seems.

There are a few ways to bypass the connection and just play with default settings and no saving by removing a line from the config file. Okay, I still get the error message, but if I ignore it and quickly reopen the game window, it will continue to load into the level. Great, I get some game. Bah, what a stupid thing to think. This has worked for som eon the net, and they've played the game fine without connection to the server. I guess I'm a special case, where one problem isn't enough. Murphy tells me that I should get an error at exactly the same place in the opening scene, right after the guy throws the bag to the floor. What the heck is wrong with that? Nothing on the net covers this yet.

So to sum it up, if anybody has had the same experience, or knows what could be wrong with my game let me know, I'll be thankful for the help.

re: Crashing

Hi, I read your post I could help out a bit.

Well, you don't really need to register on live. I didn't I just made an account without registering on live on the site that the game took me to. I just created one in the game, and you could play/save playing lan or the computer, however you cannot play online when you do this, and if you ever decide to turn it into live again it will reset your current saved campaign.

As for hardware, yes you do need a lot to play the game. What is your system specs??? because I have an e6300 with 2 gigs of ram and a ATI 3850 256MB and I can only play it on medium 1024x768. When i put it on high it's unplayable with lag, my average fps is from 27-60 about 47 being the AVG. Oh, do you have windows vista? and what version? I have 32bit vista home premium, and I haven't had any problems so far.

re: Crashing

When you create the profile in game, that is actually registering your game with Live. I can't get into the game wihtout doing this. That really can't be the problem though, as the errors I get will happen whether I'm logged in or not. Hardware shouldn't be an issue. I'm geared up with pretty modern stuff, more than enough to play (see profile) and I do use Vista Home Premium 32bit.

I guess I wait for microsoft to realise that there are people out here who have issues, or I just do more computer upgrades and in the end find where the incompatability is through trial and error. It's just gathering dust right now.

re: Crashing

I've got an update on this. I upgraded my machine some more, ie. new HD, mainboard and CPU, and the problems are all gone.

I just finnished the first chapter, it runs like butter.
