In an interview with Hironobu Takeshita, who is the producer of BOF, he's stated that the Breath of Fire series isn't dead, and there will definitely be another in the future.

This is brilliant news for those of us that thought, after the disappointing sales of DQ, the BOF series would be dropped. But now those fears are gone, cuz we're gonna have another BOF!!! Hooray!

Unfortunately, Takeshita has said that they're not working on it now, nor has any planning started for it. But at least there is gonna be one, eh?

That's great news. I hope Capcom reverts back to the old traditional style, though. As much as I love DQ, another game like that in the series would be a big mistake. Can you believe it's been 5 years since DQ was released? Another BoF is long overdue.

Lazy, lazy Capcom. They ought to stop doing Resident Evil and start on Breath of Fire again instead- that's much more interesting. (I don't care for scary games, they scare me... )

Yeah, I hope the next game's more traditional too. DQ was a nice break, but I think the old style would be best now. Maybe if we're lucky the characters will have real voices this time!

I'm not sure if a game could survive these days without some sort of voice acting. It will no doubt be on the PS3, and I don't think there's an RPG out on that platform without voice acting. The new generation of gamers demand it, I guess.

Yeah, if there wasn't any voice acting it would be a bit odd. (Do they actually make any RPG's without voice acting any more?)

I agree about the Nina with proper wings thing- those red things she had on her back in V were pretty stylish looking, but they weren't really wings... I'd like to see a Nina that had working wings this time. (So we can fly around as her!)

But at the same time, I'm a little tired of the bubbly naive Nina we saw in 3 and 4. I think perhaps an older Nina would be better- not really old, but maybe 25- 35, somewhere in that sorta' region. It'd be a nice change. Not many games feature older heroes, it seems to have become an unwritten rule that heroes have to be teenagers.

Good! But I pray that it can be on PS2 yet... there were III and IV for psx, so thay have to put more 2 in a same platform too

but would it be better if capcom remake breath of fire 4 on the psp first, then at least we could do something.
Because its almost 5 years ago since the last breath of fire.
There is already a kind of eboot for breath of fire 4 but i better want a real original game.

BUT, why do you want it on the ps2? its much better on the ps3 or wii (classic controller), the quality of the game would be much more higher.

I want it on ps2 'cuz gettin' a Wii or Ps3 'ere in Brazil is not a walk in the park , so, just follow Persona's example, both Persona 3 & FES was in Ps2, the quality is marvelous and Persona 4 is also for ps2, so... IMO, I think if you guys really want, they could do different version I think, for Ps3 or Wii or ps2, but maybe after, if it's released in Ps3, they "transmute" it to ps2, like they did with GTA IV...

Awesome, it's about time. Of course I'm waiting for the latest in the Resident Evil series to be released. If they made it with the same kind of depth and personality as they did in BOF3 then it's sure to get a lot of people's attention, and I'd have to go with getting BOF6 first.

Maybe if the heroes were somewhere around the age of 20-28 it would be a little more realistic, teenagers aren't a fraction as mature as what they make out to be in the BOF series.

It's never too late for another Breath of Fire. If Capcom can get some good advertising for it, they'll do fine.

OMG, more news!!!

Apparently a games company called Camelot who are currently working with Capcom on something want to make a new RPG. They're thinking about joining forces again and making a new Breath of Fire. Take note of the bold on that 'thinking' people.

It's nothing concrete, but it's something, eh? Breath of Fire seems to be getting in the news again after years of silence, and I think that may be a good sign. Maybe the winds of change are finally beginning to blow on the BoF front?
