Steel Battalion LIVE |
|
Ok, I'll assume we all know about the upcoming version of the game that supports Xbox LIVE. Whoo-hoo! My question is this: All LIVE games have to support the Xbox Communicator, right? For voice and such? Where's this going to plug into the Steel Battalion controller? Is it going to need to go into a standard Xbox pad plugged into slot 2? Does anyone know?

I would have to assume that the XBox Live! version would ship with an port adaptor that would accept the communicator plug (memory card type) and the Steel Battalion controller port on a "pass-thru" type arrangement.
As a second alternative, depending on the wiring of the control surface, a similar plug, adaptor insert could be made to sit between the foot controller plug and the control surface input port.

I would imagine the most likely is an adapter at the connection between the stick's cord and the Xbox.

Personally I think its most likely that you will use the second port on your xbox for the communicator.
I dont see how that would be a problem?

This game is going to be online. I posted more on this somewhere, but this will be like a real war simulator. You can battle it out with everyone.
Here's a link to Gen X where I posted info on another title to use this controller that is in the works. Here.

hmm.
Glad to see you got this game. I remember we spoke on this once, didn't we? I finally found my original post for Steel Battalion Live, and I must say, if they include the mech jacking, maybe they should call it Grand Theft Mech, lol.....

I heard that the ones who already have it, the controller and all, can buy just the game.
The ones that dont have it have to buy the game and the new controller. The new controller is the same as the first but has a plug in port for the headset thing. This is off a very good SB website: http://steel-battalion-clan.pippin.us/ or just try Steel Battalion Central "My understanding is that there will be two versions of Steel Battalion: LOC released. One version (which is the only version you can currently pre-order) with game disk only for owners of the original release. You'll use your original controller and simply plug the headset into a standard Xbox controller plugged into another port (there is no push to talk button to use). Another version will include the game disk and controller. This new controller is (for the purposes of this post) exactly like the original except it will include it's own port for the headset." Hope this helps!!! SB Rocks!!!

They are currently planning on using the same controller.
Here's details on the product release that confirms it will sell without the controller. Gamestop.

I am pretty positive that they are also making a new batch of controllers, and these will be much cheaper than the ones sold before (I saw a preorder for SB:LOC and the controller for $169. Of course preorders are only so reliable but I like to believe that it indicates this batch will be cheaper).
And just to settle any confusion, SB:LOC will also be available for purchase without the controller.
