email: rthansriskul@hotmail.com Been a long time since I've posted anything and since the individual threads plan didn't quite work out, this'll be where the majority of any artwork I post will appear. Most artworks in my old Req thread are no longer uploaded to make it worth while resurrecting. Comments and constructive criticism most welcome 001: Conomara - a university assignment to produce a poetry book cover that conveyed a moody atmosphere. A few experimental water colour paintings were produced first, then I made the final piece with Photoshop. Mainly brushwork, with a few design elements. Still feel something's missing with this one though. 002: Spirit - this was more of a kick-back piece just to fill the time, so there's no real concept behind it. A practice piece of realism, expressive marks and design I suppose, though I can see a few anatomical and textural errors. Blame my model for being too shy ;p Started life as a pencil sketch, then coloured digitally. Nudity warning. Blah, guess this'll get the thread a rating after only two pieces. Nice to see you're making your own thread here again!
I love the pictures, The first one feels really spiritual, like it's in the forest and the leaves gets tossed up into the air, and the line of light really makes it a great feel to it! Other words, I love it Your second picture is also great! I love the colour and the idea, and the position you have set her in. wonderful work!

Very impressive! Conomara's my fave of the two, love the color choices on that one. It does feel a bit empty at the top but that's just a minor thing, I wouldn't change anything about it. You really know your stuff, Requiem.

(would a smaller size of the following be helpful for some?)
003: Iona - Potential artwork cover for a personal project I should be working on, but aren't ;p Iona (which is just a working title) is a futuristic city, it's logo is at the centre. Mainly I was trying to combine illustration with type and design, with abstract stuff thrown into the mix. It's not a literal picture. I had to scan the piece in two halves, because the scanner I have here isn't big enough to accomodate an A3 size piece... I may rescan it at university, which does have the necessary equipment. Pen work, with digital colour just to give it something extra.

I think as a whole it really looks impressive. It has a nice and interesting, flow to it, where you start from the city then go down to the centre (As you weird people spell it) then go to the type. I likes it. ^^ The color is cool too, I think having the watery color adds to the image. Kinda balances things out. I'm not sure if the blue was as powerful as the black, though after thinking about it. ^^ I wanna see more of these designs. ^^

Ive never been able to understand how you could make these unbelievably incredible pieces of art and Im not gonna begin to start now. But everytime I see your stuff, I get motivated to do some of my own, and then I get discouraged because I know I could never do it.
.... Ok, well I really like the concept (That I got out of it) of Iona, how the city grows its roots from the text and then there is the centre (Agrees with Katie. ^^) of it all - The logo which is also a good concept, Im not sure if I like the colors tho, but I guess you know what your doing.

Wonderful! I really enjoy the colours you have chosen,
not to light or not to dark, and it all blends in, but yet there are some strong lines in it! What is your thoughts behind this picture? You made me get a good idea for a picture with this ^^ You should post more of your work ^^

I agree that the blue colouring of the design may not be as striking as the black. Since I still have the .psd file, I'll probably darken it a little. Thanks for the feedback 004: Neoseeker - Here is a design for this site, without using literal images. This isn't a commission or anything, just a little something I wanted to try out. Since Neo is predominantly a hardware/software site, the idea was to get a tight, technical, circuit board feel to the piece (as opposed to the looser, organic appearence of Iona). The blue colouring is to mimic the site's own hues. This is probably something I should have done completely in Photoshop, rather than pen - the precision I wanted would have been easier, also some of the lines haven't scanned so well. I think a little more detail would have helped, too.

005: Pathways Nowhere - Recently I worked on a university project concerning the difficulty of preserving a person's individuality due to huge social forces (based around a text by Georg Simmel). This is a personal piece about that lack of identity, of having your personality deconstructed and absorbed into society. Started as a pen drawing, then painted in Photoshop 7.

Wicked artwork! I especially like the second piece, it reminds me a lot of Shiva from Final Fantasy. The Neoseeker logo kicks a whole lotta arse as well. LOL. Excellent coloring and layout, please keep posting!

Cheers for the comments, ladies
006: Candeslant - a variant species of it's 'technodragon' forefathers, the Candeslant's most striking feature are the beams of a secreted plasma-like residue that complete two large wings. It's thought that these wings are held together either through electromagnetism, or some latent telekinetic ability, perhaps picked up through years of mutation and exposure to outside elements. What is known is that these beams can be collapsed when the Candeslant wants to rest, bringing the pods that generate them together. Typically found at very high altitudes, the beast's barbed tail is used to dig deep into rock faces, allowing them to rest without falling. The tail also makes for a powerful weapon and hunting tool. Wow, it's awesome! I love the glow of the wings on the armor plating. I also found the info about the creature to be interesting as well.
