all i can get is 'best fren' relationships! no matter wat i do! i try using all the romantic options they give me and they work- but they always just stay best frens- they never marry or somthing. how can i get them to b lovers or married instead of being best frens??? please help! its the only problem i have in the game

This game is different from other Sims games because the goals don't really include getting married and settling down in a house as a couple. Even if you try to make two Sims a couple, they will flirt with any other Sims around them and get in fights about it.
You can get married, but in order to do so, you have to make wedding beanies and wedding leis and have both Sims wearing them when one proposes to the other. | |

My Sims in this game always flirt with each other and they frequently get jealous and get mad at one of the other Sims. Yeah it only stays as 'best friend'
Only thing i don't like in this game is the lack of romantic options (and that they seem to refuse to do them more) | |

Maybe someone complained when one of their kids played Sims 2, I don't know, but if you compare all three games it does seem interesting.
