I hate a 1337 computer... why wont DX2 run good? |
|
I have a sony vaio... P4 2.6 ghz, 512 ddr, geforceFX 5900, and audigy2 sound card... I have direcx 9... and all my drivers are the updated newest ones that I could find on all the manufacturers sites...
so... DX2 doesnt run good even with all the graffics settings on lowest... the framerate is choppy and there is at least a half a second delay between when I move my mouse... and the game responds. I mean does anyone know what the hell is going on? I even sent some messages to eidos tech support and all they could come up with for me to try was reinstalling all my drivers... which I have done several times and it doesnt help... when I told them that I think they gave up on me cause they quit replying... does anyone know ANYTHING I could try to get this game to run? I just dont understand why my computer cant run it... PLZ HELP ME! Im despirate to play!!!

Umm..... This might be an extremely stupid question...
But I'm about 99% sure that Deus Ex 2 is not out yet. So how the heck can you be playing it? Has it just come out wherever you are? OK, it was a stupid question... How full is your hard-drive? That might cause slowdown if there's not much space... -------------------

I don't know what to say. But I'm querious. What OS are you running? Win98, Win2KPro, XP Home, or XP Pro? Linux with Wine?
Are there other apps running in the background? Did you defragment your drive after installing the game? How big is your Page File?

I'm having the same problem and my machine is not bad at all to say the least. 2.4 p4, 512 ddr, 40 gb (about 20 used), win xp pro, all drivers are the latest and windows is fully updated. It seems that this is not a system problem but one with the game itself. My god, I'm dissapointed in Eidos for letting the game be shipped in this condition. I also had the problem with the game crashing when it loads. Just hold down Esc. though to make it though that. No patches are out that I'm aware of, but I'm sure one will be very very soon with all the bugs so far. It's only V1.0 of course which almost always is full of bugs. I want to play the damn thing now, but may have to wait a week and see on that patch.

quote BorisXWindows usually short changes you on the page file size. Try increasing the page file size to 2 x the size of your RAM. In your case 2 X 512MB = 1024MB. If that does not help then I'm sorry to say then, that gorgod2 is right. It's bugs.

It's not just your computer. DX2 is slower drunken sloth. It makes Halo look speedy. These no-effort Xbox ports are pissing me off now. It doesn't even look that good. That aside it seems like an interesting game.
To fix the mouse problem - first mark all your files writable (some are marked read only for some unknown reason) edit your default.ini file, change MouseLagThreshold = 0 I have a P4 3.2 Radeon 9800Pro and it's still slow. I keep it at 1024x768 and can barely do 30fps (it dips below 20.) Those of you who want to try it out check out the demo. Once again performance aside this looks like a good game, although Im stuck like 20 mins into it

i just finished the game for the 2nd time, and the entire way through it randomly crashed. and without a quick save/quick load feature that was a pain. i've got a p4 3ghx HT 1gig ram 120gig sata drive and a radeon aiw pro 9700, with winxp and the game was still really slow. i went back and installed deus ex 1 a couple of weeks ago and it looks better than this one, cept for the lighting, due to the slow framerate. i see lots of xbox stuff in the game files, which makes me think they didn't spend enough time on the pc version and were focused on making it work with the xbox. also having to change resolution every time you start it up is ghetto. i would be embarrased if i wrote and released a game like that. with all that said, it's still a fun game. maybe if they'd spent a little more time before their final release (which took forever i might add) maybe they'd have released the game i was expecting.

I've been playing DX2 for a day or two now, and the framerate problem doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. Just in the open areas with a lot to process does it get noticably slow.

if u are having problems with the proformance of the game go into your acuall setting for your graphics card and set every setting for proformance and not quality and also do the same for your directX if it allows you to then go into your game and put resonable setting for the game itself because even if your settings are low it will still run bad because of the low quality of the setting if you follow me at all. Thus if you need n e more help go to tweakxp.com and see if n e thing there helps you if you arent running XP then im not sure what to do for u!!!! sry
