*bleep* Namco - Ubisoft's got my vote

They claimed my support with the consistency of Splinter Cell and their publishing efforts, getting games like Darkwatch and many other released in PAL regions, etc.

Now Ubisoft takes to the skies with Hawx.
Their series will, as this video hints, take place in the same universe as Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. Scott Mitchell, veteran leader of the Ghosts, is depicted in the video.

Will Namco ever make battles as relative to real world situations like this? *bleep* no, they'd rather dance with angels.

Backstabbed loyalists, put your vote on this one. Hawx is where it's at.

watch it.

There's definitely an SU licensed for this game, with at least 50 craft licensed, from all over the world, for use in the game. Falcon, Hornet, Eurofighter, Lightning II, Fulcrum, and many others. Very interested in the online capabilities.

The map design already looks a cut above Ace Combat 6's, with real world locations depicted in the game, aided with satellite mapping technology. (Similar to what Taito's Energy Airforce series used)

I dunno. I'll have to see how HAWX turns out before calling it better than AC.

Shouldn't be hard to beat, considering the quality of Ace Combat 6.

Shit, i'd put money on a new Lethal Skies addition over Namco at this point. Namco's got graphics, but that's about it. The next gen's demand more than that to be frank. It really sucks that they skimped out - considering what Ace 4 did for the series, I was really hoping Ace 6 would equally revitalize the series, but Namco said it themselves - they're after the quick and easy, not the long road to quality releases. In the end, it's going to completely kill the series, if you still aren't holding out hope, that is.

BTW, anybody play Blazing Angels 2?

Another things Hawx can do>
quote Hawx' profile
EVOLUTIONARY MULTIPLAYER - For the first time ever in the air-combat genre, players will be able to experience the entire solo campaign in four-player JUMP IN co-op mode. In PVP mode, players can challenge up to 15 friends in intense dogfighting sessions and find out who's the top gun. Winning players are rewarded with experience points and money to unlock more weapons.
Something like that would do wonders for fun factor. It's what we wanted for a while now.

re: *bleep* Namco - Ubisoft's got my vote

...

SHIT.... HAWX SUCKS...

There's new gameplay footage out now (check www.gametrailers.com), and the graphics look pretty bad for a next gen game. The control/handling of the craft isn't even arcade-like. It's flat, completely mechanical, bears no resemblance to an aircraft in flight at all. On top of that, there are a lot of what appear to be 'automatic maneuvers' for missile evasion which will likely result in noob spamming in any online component, or just kill the feel offline. I wasn't expecting a sim with HAWX, but was expecting something a little, yunno, militarily realistic, considering Tom Clancy's name has been slapped onto it. But I should have known better, there have been plenty of Clancy titles that have been horrendous (Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six), aside from Vegas, and the next gen GR games, which I can't speak for.

Blargh, when will they ever get it right?
Last hope is Taito continuing the Over-G/Energy Airforce series on the PS3 AND 360 (i want multiconsole releases, damnit, no more of this exclusive shit, everybody deserves a good game, especially given the hardware's capable enough to handle similar coding.)

Xenostrike, when are you going to start making games? You're late!

re: *bleep* Namco - Ubisoft's got my vote

Just played the HAWX demo. It's awesome! You can pull moves you could never do in the Ace Combat games. In the training mission I played, you use an F-15STD, I think. Thanks to it's canards, you can pull super-sharp turns and loops, even a full 360, while preserving the momentum.

This is a definite must-buy for me. Judging from the demo, Ace Combat is a thing of the past for me.
Oh, and there are no "automatic manoeuvers". At least I didn't notice any.
