I had a bit of trouble my first time through it, but then I realised that you could just run around the edges, killing all the rocket ninjas til they stop respawning and then focus on the mechs.

And I reckon the first test was the most fun, purely because ninjas are my favourite enemies.

Dash/jump around to avoid the projectiles, kill ninjas for essence and take care of the mechs with on-landing UTs and OTs.

To be honest, I don't do Test of valor at all.
Why? Because I don't want to used up my potions just because of it or even worst, used up my rebirth for nothing.
Not really worth the risk for me at least.

I'm fixed on completing the one in chapter 4 as I've got no health items. I've been trying now for hours but I wont give up. At least I'm learning moves but there are just too many fiends, any tips?

It's really more than worth it. You get other items such as Lives of the Thousand Gods, aka, the best healing item in the game, or enough essence to fully upgrade or buy tons of health items.

By the time you actually get to the more difficult ones, you have the Eclipse scythe, which pretty much rapes everything with its UT.

I concur. I just donesn't make sense to skip the tests in order to save healing items/money. You get a lot more by doing the tests. Besides, your health and Ninpo get refilled after the test, so you don't need to use than many items.

In chapter 2, right after getting the Falcon's Talons, you're in that little area where a bunch of enemies spawn.

Kill everything. You get the Rod of Valor, or something like that. From then on, you'll notice stone circles in the ground. When all enemies around you are dead, they light up and allow you to tackle a bunch of enemies at one time, and earn an item at the end. Usually a life of the thousand gods.

lmao it's not that hard and if your any good at this game you shouldn't need more then 1 grains of SL. use all ninpo when needed and it should be fine. you get nine gods. 20k ess and some other stuff + all your life and ninpo fills up after also. so stop being a wimp and try it out. i think theres always a save nearby

re: Tests of valor*potential spoilers*

there is almost always a save closeby so...
just do it, slaughter those (insert names of enemy in trial of valor)
just bring along like 1 herb + 1 grains
