Despite a string of new titles announced for the PSP by Japanese publisher Square Enix, other publishers are not so bullish on the handheld. THQ announced today that the company has cancelled development of Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed for the PSP. This comes as quite a surprise, considering that the title was far along in development and was among the most anticipated upcoming games for the handheld.

The cancellation might have something to do with the poor reception the game received when it was released for the Wii back in February. A spokesperson from the company told IGN today that "Basically, the PSP version was cancelled because of control issues... Big Willy Unleashed was designed by a Wii developer specifically for the Wii. When it was ported over to the PSP, the controls simply didn't translate well, and instead of pushing out the product with translated controls, it was cancelled.". Ironically, one of the biggest gripes that reviewers had with the Wii version was poorly-implemented controls.
