That logic is extremely flawed, unfortunately.

If I have my hand caught in a bear trap, and I get my hand out of the trap - I'm going to be very happy. . . this does not at all mean that I enjoyed the pain.

When you play a game that's difficult, and you get past a difficult part and you're happy - it doesn't necessarily mean you liked the frustration, pain, etc. . . it means that you overtook a challenge and you succeeded.

Then again, some of us do mix pain and pleasure. XD

I guess you're right!but you have to admit--making it to the next area on the brink of death after traversing 5 floors filled with dangers and warping back to town to save gives you a lot of relief,no?Even if what you say is true,all that time spent to make it to the next strata makes you compelled to get to the next until you reach the Overlord or Ur Child,then,when you kill Ur Child(as an example)you feel happy,right?(you beat the toughest boss)And then you don't get a message,and you're all "WTH,I spent 2 freakin' hours killin him,and all i get is an apple and no message at least sayin congrats".You then spend all your time completing the item compendium/monster list/gear registry,and quests,you get bored and kill Ur Child again,and get the awesome"After a grueling battle with the mighty being,it finally collapses,and you are in triumph.Congratulations on Defeating the mightiest of enemies!You are now the masters of this labyrinth"because you 100% the game.When you get the message,you go like"Finally...After all those hours spent grinding,mapping,and getting game overs...It's finally done...".It seems more relief than hapiness,but it's all the same.

Same applies with Etrian Odyssey,but Primeevil was much harder than Ur Child
