Why is this forum needed? With the original Xbox, Xbox Live was almost a separate entity, and hence the separate forum, but with the 360 being so tightly integrated with the console, do we really need a sub-forum for LIVE related discussions? I thought the system was working just fine the way it was, with a General Xbox 360 forum, for everything Xbox 360 related, why make the divide, split the traffic, make everyone click an extra time and create confusion, not to mention memberating whenever someone wants a quick answer from the majority of the 360 community, not a delayed answer from the few people who will visit this forum, and gets told to come here instead. Sure this thread will be closed in a blink, but I'd still like to get some input on what everyone else thinks on this, if it's so important why did it take so long to implement, are all threads relating to Xbox Live in the general forum going to be moved here etc

You shouldn't try to think of this forum as "new". Think of it as the old Xbox Live forum moving from the original Xbox to the Xbox 360. I know the original forum is still open as of now but for the sake of argument, it has moved here.

I feel that as Xbox Live is more integrated in the 360 and it has much more content and many more features than ever before, what better time to have a section dedicated to it's discussion?

You do bring up some valid points and I would like to address them here. Firstly it shouldn't cause any confusion, at least not after people get used to it. This is a benefit of having it as a sub-forum rather than a forum in it's own right. So whenever people visit the General 360 forum, they can see it right there at the top of the main page. This eliminates the need for people to search for it and eliminates the need to have a link to it in the header (which I will be revising soon).

The fact that people have to click one more time than they normally would is true I guess but is it really a valid argument for the need of an entire forum? You also mention that the traffic will be split. While this is true, it is still contained within the General 360 forum. So even if the ideal scenario of having every Live related post here and every console/game post in the main forum were to happen, the traffic is still within the main forum. This may be more difficult if it was on it's own but as a sub-forum, it overcomes the issue.

Anyway, I can only answer your views with my own opinions. I have never had a sub-forum under my control before and it will be interesting to see how it develops. I don't want to act like the bad guy and close every Live related thread in the main forum from now on. That's not the way to handle it. We all just need to make sure people know the resource is here and eventually the balance will restore itself. I hope it can grow into a useful forum and a handy resource tool for new and old members alike. I will try to keep it as helpful as possible in the future, perhaps by adding some sort of FAQ or start-up guide as a sticky.

But anyway, for the foreseeable future, the sub-forum is here. So I hope you will all use it and find it useful.

Hey, the PS3 forum has a PSN subforum, so why not us?

I guess its just easier to manage. Have things more organized rather then all into the 360 forum.

I suppose we will all just have to wait until some more people notice it. there doesnt seem to be many people here atm.

It will take a while to get busy. It hasn't been here long and the majority of 360 discussion is not about Live. So most of the chat is in the main forum.
