quote Lyrikal_RetorikNope. What you're meant to do for that to happen is to be signed into your offline account and click 'Join Xbox LIVE' whereas by the sound of things you just created a new account altogether. There's one, reasonably expensive way you can fix that. 800MSP - Change GamerTag of new account. XBL ($?) - Use the method I mentioned. -------------------

Just wondering, do you need a modem to sign up or do you just need a router?

Routers tend to hook up to modems. The router is the 'middleman' that allows the internet to connect to something via wireless connectivity.
quote GuugleyThis will get me back achievements and game saves even if my 'new' account has the same exact name as the one erased? Thanks for the help. ------------------- ![]() | |

Hey guys, I didnt want to pay for a wireless router so I found a way to connect by bridging your wireless internet connection to a local connection then connect that to your xbox. explained here ----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4i6DHkOYho
so anyway my xbox is able to connect to the network, but once it does, the connection that goes from my laptop to xbox (via ethernet cable) causes the wireless internet to go down. therefore my xbox is also unable to get through to my internet connection...any ideas on how to fix this..and please no "just by the wireless adaptor" responses, stay on topic Also I cant directly plug the xbox into my router so dont reccomend that. Thanks!! EDIT: Okay guys i was able to fix that on my own. so now i can successfully connect to the network, but then it says it "cant find/use the DNS servers to xbox.com or xbox live" or whatever. any ideas? i went to command prompt, typed ipconfig/all and found the servers and put it in..it didnt work..so what do i do? thanks!! -------------------

The first year of my Gold account is about to run out. Will it auto-charge me for another 50 bucks the day it runs out or will I have to do it myself?

re: General Xbox Live Help |
quote DistortionIt should do it automatically. I bought 12 months using a debit card and I haven't been required to re-enter anything. quote Dragon00453If it doesn't work with the setting on automatic, then you can either go online and look up the DNS servers that your ISP currently uses, or you can enter your modem's gateway IP. This may or may not be the same thing you got from using 'ipconfig/all', but the best way to check is to look online for what your modem's default IP is. Another method that may allow you to find out the modem's ip is to go back to the Command Prompt that you used for 'ipconfig/all', except this time type in 'tracert google.com' into the prompt. It will begin tracing the route of connections you take to get to that website. The first IP that pops up should be the gateway address to your router (it should be listed next to the number '1', then a series of numbers telling you how many milliseconds it took to get there), and the second IP that pops up should be the gateway to your modem. Take the second one and put it in as your DNS server. If that's what you were already using, then try my other suggestion of using your ISP's DNS server. You could try looking it up on the internet, or you could try copying and pasting your modem's gateway into your internet browser and then begin searching the modem's configuration page for the DNS server(s) it connects to. -------------------
