Story Of Your Season

Use this thread to post up end of season reviews or regular updates on your progress throughout the season.

There will be no individual SOMS threads until the FM Stories sub forum is created, and that will only happen if this thread gets popular enough. So it's in your best interest to contribute regular updates to your stories if you want to have your own SOMS thread.

If you don't care about keeping a blog of your progress throughout the season, then you can continue to post end of season reviews or just how you're progressing in this thread.

Remember to use constructive criticism when you want to comment on a report or season review.

re: Story Of Your Season

This is just the start of what would be an SOMS. Just wanting feedback on it please.

Mourinho New Toon Boss

Former Chelsea boss gets new club

In a shock move, it's been announced Jose Mourinho, the former Chelsea manager, has taken over from Sam Allardyce at Newcastle United.

For days, Newcastle had been the subject of rumours, due to there being an internal fall out between Allardyce and new owner, Mike Ashley over how much transfer funds were available and now that seems the reason for Allardyce's exit

Mourinho, quit Chelsea this summer after also falling out with his previous club's owner, Roman Abramovich over team selection. However no-body thought Mourinho would be back this quickly in football.

Sky Sports understands that Mourinho didnt take long to accept the offer from Ashley and has been promised that his team wont be affected by Ashley's opinion on who should play.

Ambition:

In an interview with SSN earlier in the week, Mourinho was quoted as saying

quote Mourinho
Despite me leaving Chelsea, I think that the "Speical One" could have a job by the start of the new season, and it'll be in England, at a club I nearly went to before.

When Sir Bobby Robson went to Newcastle from Barcelona, I was suppose to go with him to St James. Howver the previous chairman didnt like me and me and Bobby went our seperate ways. I've always wanted to manager Newcaslte United and i hope that I can do this in the near future.
This started speculation that Mourinho wanted the job and with Allardyce already being a pain in Ashley's backside without a month going by since Allardyce was appointed by then chairman Freddy Shepherd, it seemed that the move would happen.

Problem:

However there was a problem because in Mourinho's exit contract, it said Mourinho "couldnt manage for the rest of the season." However this was written before the 30th June meaning that the season wasn't atcually offically over. this gave Mourinho the chance to seal the deal and become the latest Newcastle manager.

re: Story Of Your Season - Fulham

Lawrie Sanchez leaves by Mutual Consent

Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez has parted company with Chairman Mohamed Al Fayed and Fulham FC after a dispute thought to be about transfer money. Although Lawrie managed to bring in quite a few players over the summer recently, he was reported to have wanted more cash available to him in order to strengthen his squad. After this was rejected by Chairman Al Fayed Sanchez was not happy and both the Manager and the Chairman’s relationship deteriorated. For the good of Fulham, Al Fayed stated that it was in both parties interest to part company and they will now be looking for a replacement in order to take them into the new Premiership season. We spoke to goalkeeper Antti Niemi earlier on today and this is what he had to say on the departure of Lawrie Sanchez.

quote Antti Niemi
”Yeah it’s a huge blow to loose a top boss like Lawrie, especially since he only took charge at the end of last season but we will now look to move on and I look forward to welcoming whoever comes in to replace him.”

With Fulham now looking for a new manager the hot favorite seems to be Watford gaffer Aidey Bothroyd. Other managers who seem to be in the running are Birmingham boss Steve Bruce, unemployed Gerrard Hollier and England manager Steve McClaren.

Luzniki Stadium, 17th October 2007

England's qualification was in doubt after a horrid display in a cold Moscow night at the Luzniki stadium. Alexandre Kerzakhov's goal seperated the two sides in a hard fought match. England's qualification doubt was sown up after Russia's small 1-0 victory over Andorra just a month later. England manager Steve McClaren has kept his job but will be at home wishing.

7th June 2008

"And Sweden lead out to the raptures of the crowd here at the Stade de Suisse Wankdorf in Bern. Sweden looking for an easy victory but Greece are no pushovers, what's more, there the holders and won't give up without a fight. The two captains shake hands,Goumas and Alexandersson both happy to be here. The game is underway. Over to you Ally"

"Thanks Clive, well Sweden will start the game and will be looking for a opening goal to kick it off. Andersson down the wing, pulls it back to Ljunberg, some quick early play here by Sweden Kallstrom picks it up and looks forward, a long ball forward to Rosenborg. Rosenberg Shoots!!!! Saved "

50th Minute

"Still no score here Clive, looking like it could be heading to a draw, which isn't what Sweden want. Ellmander's been tripped that'll be a free-kick, 35 yards out. Ellmander will probably chip this in the box, OH MY WORD Ellmander has scored a sensational free-kick from 35 yards, the Sweden players lift him and rightly so, what a goal. I take back what i said, Greece look destraught. Greece will restart the match. Well, one look at that replay just shows the quality in today's sides Clive and, hang on a poor back pass by Fyssass has gifted a golden chance to Rosenborg. 2-0, sublime finish after some poor finishing there, the Greek fans are angry they feel that Fyssass was tripped, well the goal stands."

80th Minute

"There's some crowd trouble brewing, Steve McClaren is here today no doubt wishing his team was here instead. This is getting serious now, Police have been brought in to stop this but it's tool ate, McClaren is seated in the midst of this and... He's just been knocked out by a 14 year old, what a shame. Yes There's going to be strong words said about this afterwards, it's taking a gloss of off a fine game. BANG. Om my word, gun shots, gun shots people, this is ridiculous, whoever it is will be found, the players have stopped and taken refuge inside, this is serious."

85th minute, Greece score

"Well, too little too late in my books, but i think that should calm down the fans, only a few minutes left but i think the managers will have something to say about this, this is a black day for football."

To be continued, but who as?

re: Story Of Your Season - Fulham

Fulham appoint new Gaffer

David Seaman

In what seems to be a suprise appointment, Fulham Chairman Al Fayed has appointed former Arsenal legend and International Goalkeeper David Seaman as the clubs new manager to succeed Lawrie Sanchez. It's David's first time in charge of a club and the Fulham fans will hope that Seaman can take the club forward after the sudden departure of Sanchez. Many people however will think that Seaman is too in-experienced to take charge of a Premiership club and will just hope that David has learnt enough from his managers over his playing carrear. David Seaman who turns 44 next birthday had this to say about his appointment.

quote David Seaman
"I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to manage at such a top club like Fulham FC. The players that they have here are quality and the fans are also. I would like to say thank you to Al Fayed for giving me this opportunity to hone my abilities here at Craven Cottage and I'm realishing the chance to put my ideas across."
With Fulham Chairman looking for a mid-table finish, David will have his work cut out to meet those expectations and get his ideas across for when the new Premier League season starts.

This is the squad that new Fulham gaffer David Seaman has inherited.

Rocky Thirteen Takes over at Ipswich, as Magilton shocks the Tractor Boys, by resigning!

Today, former Town player and legend Rocky Thirteen takes over at the club. He has had only minimal experience, including managing Ipswich Wanderers, and assistant manager of Colchester United. But possibly even more shockingly, was the abrupt departure of Jim Magilton. Nobody knows why he left at the moment.

There's something about David Seaman that always makes me laugh.

Nice updates everyone, I enjoy reading about peoples seasons so i'm looking forward to hearing about how everyone else is doing.

re: Story Of Your Season

Well, I'm 15 games in and am top of the table with this Spurs side...

I know there are weak spots, but I have no more money left to buy and as mentioned on a previous thread, my fringe players aren't attracting buyers so can't raise cash...

My buys haven't been the best, but I couldn't get anyone else with the little cash I had....

What do you guys think?

Tranfer Review
7th-15th July 2007

The first three days went passed with the phone constantly ringing. The Special One's was moaning cause she had to move up north and she couldn't, what these people we saying now. (It's like learning a whole new language with these people.) However at least the children are settling in nicely at their new school and have got loads of mates.

Outs:

Back to the transfer dealings, my first piece of business was to sell striker Obafemi Martins to AC Milan for £10.75 million. At first the board were shocked at the sale but as Mike Ashley promised he let me get on with my job. Originally I didn't want to sell Oba but when the offer came in and I realised when the new players signed he wouldnt be playing, I took the chance and sold him. He was very good at everything expect being a target man which is what I needed to help Owen score goals. The fans didnt react to well either until they saw the signings that joined the club.

Ins:

I was chasing a number of players. At least seven and of those only one is a played I've had contact with before. That's Claude Makélélé! The squad really needed him becuse of this new formation I was going to try out. I never spoke to Chelsea once though, Makélélé and the chairman spoke to that tw*t Abromvich instead. We completed the deal on Thursday for £2 million. It was a great feeling to be bring someone new in, really made me feel like the manager again.

Within twenty-four hours I'd signed another ex Chelsea player, Adrian Mutu. This once disgraced drugs user returned to the Premiership for the first time since he was sacked by Roman at Chelsea, I personally wanted him to stay but the tit in charge wouldnt let it happen. So when I got the chance I took him back. We struck quite a deal worth up to £80 million if he scored fourty goals and made fifty appearances, yet we only paid £1 million up front. to me despite the risk of the the clubs finances. Later on I thought that it was such a good Idea I kept using this tactic to sign other players.

The rest of the week came and passed and although I was still in contact with other managers I didnt think I was going to be able to sign another player, then at the last hour on Sunday I did. Another striker joined the club for a fee like I had done with Adrian Mutu. This time it was Dimitar Berbatov though who had signed for us. He would be the perfect replacement in my eyes for Alan Shearer, who Newcastle just couldn't replace last season. Yet despite this I refused to give him the number nine shirt. I decided to save it for if I signed another striker, however if the striker signed or not would be a different matter.
