Diary of a Young Footballer Throstle Nest 12:01pm August 18, 2007 We had all made it onto the coach, the journey had just taken us out of the Throstle Nest car park and Accrington here we come! It was like I had taken a gram of Speed before I got on the coach because I was bouncing off the windows of the coach with excitement. The journey flew by with my blinding white earphones from my iPod plugged into my ears, Kaiser Chiefs followed by The Pigeon Detectives, what a line-up. We were there in no time, to me, anyways. There is was, The Fraiser Eagle Stadium stood in front of me and I passed through the doorway and down a very slim corridor and into the Away Dressing room which obviously hadn’t been cleaned since the last day of last season, left over cans and shampoo bottles were scattered everywhere, so it was obviously up to the new boy to clear it all up, rather unusually for me I agreed as nothing at all could possibly spoil my mood.. Half an hour later, we were ready and we met a deafening crowd of 312 people spread around the stadium. I was there to test the goalkeeper with the sort of cheeky lobs I produced at the Millennium Tournament which must’ve caught the eye of that scout. However, after a few minutes of that I was forced into a full-blown game of piggy in the middle some trickery was needed on my part to get round the two skillful piggy’s. Before we knew it, it was time to strip down in the dressing room and line up in the tunnel for the start of the match. Being the youngest I was at the back, I shared some words with the Accrington youngsters who were obviously debutants just like me. However, the words exchanged in the tunnel would not be remembered as my full debut began…

Diary of a Young Footballer The Fraiser Eagle Stadium 4:53pm August 18, 2007 Well what a match that was, despite us losing 3-0 I was happy with my display. Tempers flared towards the end I ended up in the book, I can’t remember much about the game just a flurry of mixed emotions throughout the day which made the day unforgettable. I met my Dad in the Corsa he’d just sat through my debut and said he was very pleased and obviously I told him about what happened during my first training session and how I expect to be on the teamsheet for the second match next Saturday against Lincoln under-18’s. Although not in my favourite position – attacking midfielder – but I will adjust to fit the manager’s tactics for the season and if that fits me in on the left-wing then so be it. I’m just happy to be playing football for a semi-pro football team. Nothing can beat your debut even if it is played out to 312 people. I felt the match, the morning before as I was covered in bruises down the sides of my legs, I must have been kicked lumps out of. My Dad re-assured me I was just too quick for the full-backs and regularly brought down and fouled all up and down the left-wing. I can’t wait for my next match!

Phew! I have just caught up from were I left off this afternoon and the updates are great. Love it! Can I just ask, are you making this up as you go along, or have you created yourself on the editor and ended up at Farsley Celtic? Either way it is a great SOMS. I'm surprised not many people are commenting as it is one of the better SOMS out there at the moment.

Diary of a Young Footballer Sincil Bank 4:59pm August 25, 2007 I started again for Farsley as we played out a 1-1 draw with Lincoln City. I’m still looking for my first goal, but that won’t matter unless I’m playing regular footballer for Farsley and that’s what I am doing, and gladly, too. Another away match, meant yet another bouncy journey with lots of emotions on the journey especially from the group Madness in which I have several songs off them on my iPod. Anyways, we made our way down to Lincoln and experience a hostile crowd, probably because of the Lincolnshire / Yorkshire relationship or because they hated Halifax Town and they thought we were them, they are a right lot [ I was once again pleased with my performance and cannot wait until next week where we face our biggest rivals, and the club I support, Halifax Town, Town through and through and it will be a big moment for me early on in my career and to face my hometown was a joy and was looking forward to it. I was hoping for it to be at The Shay, where I visited on a regular basis with my mates to watch The Shaymen play, but never mind, I’ll still enjoy it either way. As soon as I got back from the match I switched my laptop on I scrolled the Neoseeker forums, “FM08 Demo Released now!” In 15 minutes I was away, choosing Halifax Town, the first game I had, you’ll never guess, Farsley! With my sublime tactics and team talks with their BRAND NEW features I thrashed Farsley 4-1, let’s hope it’s not a copy of what will happen in two week’s time.

Diary of a Young Footballer Home 3:31am September 6, 2007 I could hear whistling around me, what was going on? Then a green platform bolted onto the level I was stood on and then white lines started to appear and I then it came to me, a football pitch. Was I in super fast time? Was it a sci-fi film? Whatever was happening it was freaky. People started to fall from the sky and onto the pitch all wearing some kind of unifo… their football kits. I spotted the yellow kit’s sponsor, ‘Fraiser Eagle’ it must have been Halifax Town. Players with light blue strips kept falling around me Nike sponsors, it was us. It must be the match, had I taken a tab of LSD beforehand? Seemed like it, either I was hallucinating or … I don’t know. The other 21 players seemed to be going six times faster than me and I was stuck in normal time. I walked into their box and the ball landed at my feet and everything was going in slow motion, except for me, I could see a Halifax defender lunge at me but he was taking his time in the air, extra slow. I just dragged the ball back and the goalie seemed to saunter towards me so I just lobbed him and then I wheeled away in celebration and as the net rippled, time seemed to freeze with me still normal, then I saw stars. The stars on my bedroom ceiling, I launched myself at the wall for the light switch and I was back in my room the T.V turned itself on and kept flickering and then felt a huge cold splash on my face, I woke up again and my Dad had thrown water on my face to wake me up. I was scared, but determined, determined to do well on Saturday.
