quote Oxygen
Randy would get taken down and pounded on, Nog is a bit more dangerous due because of his submission skills.
For what it's worth, I think Randy was doing OK until he got caught and has probably been Brock's toughest fight to date. He got a take down and landed some shots of his own and I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch.

quote Oxygen
... but when his opponents were hurt he never bothered trying to finish them.
If you're just referring to his UFC fights, that's not really true. He hurt David Heath with a flurry of knees and was going for the finish, but couldn't. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was right at the end of the fight. Against Tito, he had him taken down at the end of the first, in a crucifix, started to land some elbows and had there been 10 more seconds he probably would have finished it there. He also followed Tito to the ground after he landed that knee to the liver and he finished Sokoudjou, Thiago Silva and Rashad.

re: Ultimate Fighting Championship® Discussion [06]

Kenflo says he wants another fight before the year's out, he might get it at 106. Clay Guida, perhaps.
quote
According to a tweet by Fanhouse's Michael David Smith, Kenny Florian is likely to face off against Clay Guida at UFC 106. Sounds like logicial matchmaking to us: Florian previously expressed that he wanted to rebound from his loss to BJ Penn by fighting "someone tough" before the end of the year, while Guida once called out Ken-Flo as one of the UFC's protected fighters. ("They hold him up on a pedestal, man, and I'm ready to kick that pedestal out from underneath him.") We wouldn't expect the kind of once-in-a-lifetime brawl that Guida had against Diego Sanchez, but it would be a solid addition to a card that already features the heavyweight title fight between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin, and a light-heavyweight co-headliner between Tito Ortiz and Mark Coleman. So what do you think — does Florian finish this fight, or does Guida win via Clay-n-Pray?
A win certainly puts Florian right back in the title mix.

After he was beaten down by BJ, I doubt he'll get another title match until 2011 at the earliest.

re: Ultimate Fighting Championship® Discussion [06]

Expect more of those now. Dana said he's not doing anymore video blogs himself, but will instead focus them on showcasing one of the marquee fighters on upcoming cards.

Interesting item from today's pre-102 press conference: BJ Penn vs. Diego Sanchez will happen in November but NOT at 105 as first thought. Or 106. Yes, there likely will be a THIRD UFC event in November to host the fight. Details forthcoming but no matter what, it's not in England. One possible date is November 7-the unconfirmed but possible date for Strikeforce headlined by Fedor vs. Brett Rogers. As for whether this event would air on Spike or PPV...Dana's reply: "Neither. Wait and see boys." Hmmm...HBO? ESPN? NBC? None of the above?

And the Maia-Marquardt winner is not guaranteed a title shot. Gotta impress the boss too.

Seriously, signing a 41 year old who is 1-1 in his only fights since 2002. What the hell.

Man, Couture weighs less than some middleweights. And he's fighting at heavyweight, haha.

Anyway, LETS GO COUTURE BABY!

Nate Marquardt is one of the biggest MW's around he'll probably walk into the cage a little over 200 pounds at the absolute most. No MW weighs 220 pounds, that's ridiculous.

You're ridiculous.

Anderson Silva and Rich Franklin both walk around at 220+.

re: Ultimate Fighting Championship® Discussion [06]

Maybe between fights they get up to that kind of weight, but they don't walk into the cage that heavy. That basically means that they'd cut 35 pounds of water, which is roughly 16kgs. 1kg = 1 litre...You can't cut 16 litres of water from your body. A good size LHW would weigh about 220 come fight time

re: Ultimate Fighting Championship® Discussion [06]

There's money in a rematch with Lesnar if Couture can beat his next few opponents, but if he loses again he'll be out of chances in the HW division. He'd likely re-retire before going to LHW.
