I'll add to what addicted said by pointing out that besides having all the illustrated answers (including step by step solutions, drawing guides, etc), it's also a detailed step by step fully illustrated walkthrough
It also points out (with arrows) exactly where to find all the hint coins and hidden puzzles The puzzle hints are shown if you need them, allowing you to finish the game with the all the hint coins intact There's clickable indexes down the side so you can easily jump to the puzzle you can't find or are having trouble solving ... along with indexes for things like the Gizmo items, picture scraps, etc (so you can easily find anything missing) The walkthrough includes the puzzles for both the US and UK versions (this also allows US players to solve the UK puzzles that are different and vice versa) There's even live help (although this is less useful for UK players due to time zone differences) This popular walkthrough is currently adding walkthrough preview pages for the next couple of games in the series (for players who would like to get a sneak peak at characters and locations)

re: Answers to all the professor's puzzles |

I got a present of The Curious Village for christmas from my cousin who was in America and I'm stuck on puzzle 116 (the largest total). I've done the calculations, did all the math and did honestly come up with the 144 total but when starting a new game recently and when I attempted to input 144 again it won't go through for me.I even went right down the number ladder and kept on and on (yes I do have a lot of time) but still 'Incorrect'. Has anyone else had this problem or am I just going barmy?

As the walkthrough shows here
http://professorlaytonwalkthrough.blogspot.com/2008/02/puzzle116.html the answer is NOT 144 The question asked is to find the number that occupies the center square (to yield the highest possible total) ... it does NOT ask what the total is You can check the walkthrough to see the answer if you need it, but it looks like you already know what the number in the center square is

I pointed out where Penchewer was going wrong and Penchewer had the choice of whether or not to look up the answer (although Penchewer clearly already knew the answer to what the question actually asked anyway)
Showing the answer here just spoils it for players who didn't want to know This message was edited by TheGuidingLight on Jan 17 2009.

The walkthrough has added the UK weekly puzzle Feuding Fishermen
US players can check out this puzzle here http://professorlaytonwalkthrough.blogspot.com/2009/01/weeklypuzzle12uk.html UK players can check out the US puzzle, A Fearsome Foe, here http://professorlaytonwalkthrough.blogspot.com/2008/03/weeklypuzzle12.html

i dont see the difference between me giving a simple answer, to a question, and putting on a website where people can sit in front of thier computer, and just click on any answer they want, i have noticed the drop in people asking questions since your website was put on.

The difference is that players are given the choice of whether or not to see a solution
I don't see much point in showing a specific answer in a thread that is not about a specific puzzle since it shows the answer to players who may not have even encountered the puzzle yet (thereby spoiling it for them) ... particularly when Penchewer clearly already knew the answer but was merely reading the question wrong Giving a simple answer to one player can spoil the puzzle for many other players who just don't want to know

The website was OK, but it wasn't perfect. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it's a brilliant website, but it could have done more.

If players would like to see more from the walkthrough, it would be more useful if they said what more they would've liked to have seen
One thing that could perhaps be added is a FAQ The next Layton walkthrough has a few enhancements such as the addition of the "must have" comments, a new style arrow and anchor links for the item lists

The walkthrough has puzzles from both English versions of the game and are marked (US) and (UK) as appropriate
On a side note, where a puzzle has a different name in the UK version (but is the same puzzle), only the US name appears in the index

For players stuck wondering why they can't open one or more of the Layton's Challenges in the bonus section ...
The top three houses are unlocked by completing the three tasks in the trunk (constructing Gizmo, repairing the painting and decorating the Inn) The fourth house is unlocked by completing the story, waiting until the end of the credits then saving when prompted The last house is unlocked once all the other puzzles have been solved (not including the weekly puzzles) Update : a Layton's Challenges index has been added to the walkthrough (linking to where each house is unlocked) This message was edited by TheGuidingLight on Feb 15 2009.

I have an idea, why don't you actually think about the puzzle instead of going on a cheats site. Because otherwise the whole object of the game is defeated.
((I don't say I'm getting lary or whatever, because I'm just stating my opinion, which I'm entitled to do
