Well, I recently downloaded MGS2 substance and tried downloading all these fixes and still cannot get MGS2 to work, to be honest I am not the most knowledgeable person with PC's and I am in desperate need of help.

My PC is a Dell XPS 420, with a Ge force 8800gt, SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC sound card, I have Windows Vista home edition.

I would really appreciate if someone could give me a step by step instruction how to fix this problem, I have read many topics on how to solve this problem but I am not familiar with Hex editior or creative sound blaster,METAL GEAR SOLID 2 Geforce no disk 2.0, and those fixes did not seem to work, but i may have done them wrong. Could someone please explain to me what fix I need to use and how to do it?

This is because of missing implemetation of EAX in vista - MGS2 cannot initialize EAX and it gets held in infinite loop.

If you have audigy or x-fi card, you can use alchemy to emulate EAX support - i've tested this on audigy 2 zs. The game runs, but the sound is somehow crapy and when I exit the game, vista shows BSOD that the aplication locked some system page.
Asus Xonar should work out of the box - it should have built-in EAX emulation in it's drivers, but I have NOT tested this.

I to have that problem.I update my realtek sound card drivers but i still have that problem.And also install the patch for ati vga card.Please help!!!!!!!!!

Download ALchemy Universal, install it and activate MGS2 inside the program. It should work for all the audio cards. I've got a Realtek, and worked for me without any problems. I don't remember how I found that program, but surely you'll find it in Google.

Ive done that but it says cant copy program files 'Game directory'
