so i was walking down the gaming ally at my local video game store and i see MGS2 Substance in the pc section, for a second there im thinking.. no way, i look closer and notice it really is for the pc, i nearly jump, grabed the game got home only to notice that even on my p4 3ghz, 1024mb dual channel ddr400, ti4600....ugh im telling you, i did not spend all this money on my computer to have an inferior console such as the ps2 kick my computers ass on one of my favorite games. lemme just get to the point, so right at the start of the game (tanker- outside, rainy, windy, you know the scene) in plain english SLOW, REALLY SLOW, im talking near unplayable speeds, nononono this is all wrong im thinking why?!?!?!?!?! i meen its not just outside in the rain, pretty much in every cutscene that is playing raw unrendered material (such as your basic gameplay graphics) you see i dont get it, when i play normaly outside of the rain and when there isnt a cutscene running, im getting great performence even at times when there is all kinds of crazy $#!% is happening (grenades goin off, blood getting all over the place, tons of people), with all my $#!% turned up (you now as usual, ive got to have my grafics way high, thats how i like it) so what is with this horific lag? tell me im not the only one

I probably know what it is that you mean.
The game uses several blends of blur effects that are rarely if ever used in game, but are used to accentuate the cut scenes (e.g. slow motion). These slur/blur effects look pretty fancy, but depending on your graphics card are either extremely slow, or don't look right at all. I got a Radion 9200. With the blur effects enabled, the scenes look both wrong and are too slow. So, I had to turn the blur effects off. Hope that helps you. | |
