How do you feel about the "accents" applied to the characters in different sections of the world?

Do they add realism and variety to the world, or are they just annoying and slow down your reading?

I like the accents, they really help characterize the DQ universe. But they do often slow down the reading.

Chapter 1 had the Scottish accents and Chapter 2 had the Russian accents. The Russian localization was pretty funny, they left out a bunch of words and conjugated words incorrectly; it felt like playing an old NES game with a poor translation.

You had trouble understanding them? Wow judging by the way you spell I would've thought you were right out of Chapter 1 or 2.

Well, I'm currently only in Chapter 2, but in Chapter 1 I the accents were just annoying, and in Chapter 2 I just thought it was very poorly translated (though not as hard to understand as Chapter 1).

I mostly thought the accents were hilarious. I enjoyed the Scottish in chapter 1, was deeply amused by the "babelfish" Russian of Chapter 2, and found the Irish of Chapter 3 refreshing. The Chapter 4 quasi-French was annoying... until I discovered that they didn't talk that way until Balzak took over. And that's where I am now.

Even I stumble over it from time to time, which I appreciate deeply. I can respect a company that isn't afraid to offend the less literate with a greater verbosity. All too often, the reverse is the case.

Chapter 1 i thought was annoying could not figure out what they were saying half of the time but it is ok i just started chapter 2 but i am not used to this version yet i have had this game only 2weeks i usually play the NES version of this game but sadly my NES has gone to you know where in a handcart. in other words my NES has seen better days it is really old And as for chapters 3 and 4 haven't gotten to them yet.
