I am only on the first dungeon in this game, and already the frequency of the random battles is annoying me. It can really test someones patience when trying to explore a cave/dungeon only to be interrupted EVERY 1-3 seconds.
Has anyone else found random battles to be too frequent? I have heard there is magic in the game which reduces the amount of random battles, anyone know anything about this?

It's actually less bad compared to previous versions, as you cover more ground and the map helps a bit.

Anyways, both Hero and Torneko learn spells that lower them, and there's an item that has a similar effect when used.

Yeah, you can always buy a phial of holy water. I SHOULD reduce the amount of random battles

I never complain about battle frequency. I just level up and
tough my way through it!

well people woudl then complain that battles arnt frequent enough, why complain about to much of a good thing, lots of battles are key to the games leveling, also less battles = less exp, also if you dont like it, grind and buy better equipment to reduce damage, and buy medi herbs to heal you if you havnt got healie yet

Yeah people should not whine about the monster encounter rate in this game it was like that back in the regular NES days too. I still have the NES Verison of this game.Unfortunately my NES has seen better days it is really old i was really happy that Square Enix released this game on the DS Has any one heard about the other Dragon Quest games coming to the DS i would like to know if someone could PM me that would be awesome the older ones i am more interested in thanks.
