Successful teaching |

I highly think that teachers should be more interactive with their students rather so uptight and demanding. I have a teacher who always adds humor to his subject and is a lot more calm and understanding than say, the average algebra teacher. What's your opinion on how teachers should teach?

The problem with teaching, at least in the UK is that it is often a last ditch job for graduates who don't know what career they want to go into. As such many teachers never actually wanted to be teachers, and as a result the position isn't edifying either for them or for the pupils. Teaching is also badly paid and has long out of school hours with marking and lesson plans, its much harder work than a lot of people think. ------------------- ![]()

They just have to be enthusiastic and want to be there. I have this one teacher who is so lazy. All she does is say "I'm so tired and want to go home, how about you guys." The only teaching she does is reading definitions out of the book. Then our tests are all vocab where you fill in the blank. The blank is the word and the sentence is the book definition. Obviously she is a terrible teacher. ------------------- ![]() New Jersey Devils: 12-8-2 New York Jets: 8-3

A teacher needs to be bond with the students while implementing disciplinary measures. My Pre-Calculus teacher has a wonderful sense of humor, but he does not tolerate laziness or bad behavior. He is an excellent teacher. ------------------- Forum Academiae President Rome

Well, for Math, I know that teacher can tend to be monotonous and tedious. My Calculus teacher tries to make it interesting... by having class in a lecture hall that can fit a maximum of 300 people with only 45 people in the class. He acts like he teachers with the Iron-Fist mentioned, but he really doesn't. He makes jokes about Jocks, Pottery, and anything non-Science or Math related. I think it works out well, considering most of the people in the class get 5's on the AP. So overall, he's a successful teacher. -------------------

quote Dearest ApolloCompletely agree. Out of the whole school we have one teacher like that, he get's the class involved etc but we can still have a laugh with him. Other teachers are okay when they're just talking to you, but to the whole class nothing get's through. >>; ------------------- ![]()
