So my mom just brought in the mail and my Progress Report was there. In case you guys don't know what this is it is like a sample report card sent halfway through the qaurter to show how you are doing. So in my English class we just had one test on Poetry that I bombed; I got a 60%. I didn't study and kind of forgot about the test but that isn't relevant. This was the only grade so far so I got an F on the Progress Report. My mom is flipping out in the other room. She doesn't seem to grasp the concept that I'm not going to ace everything and we only had one grade so far.

So do you have any experiences with bad grades?

I get the occasional F, but I tend to make A's in my classes, though not right now. As far as I am concerned, if your overall grade is high, then there is nothing about which to be worried.

Well it is just that this is the only grade we had so far. In each previous quarter I got an A in this class. Today though we had a quiz which I thought was really easy and Friday we have a vocab quiz which everyone always does well on. So with these two I think I should definitely be up to at least a C if not a low B.

Well, then you should be alright. Your mother is not going to worry as long as you get the grade up. This is a passing thing, and it shouldn't be for long. Think nothing of it, but get that grade up.

Tell your mom you're going to get it up because it's only one grade. My mom freaked out about me failing like 3 classes last year because of only one or two grades in the gradebook and it was extremely easy to get up. Just make sure you do good on everything else.

Well in ICT last year we did mock exams exactly a week before the proper exams. In both mocks I got B's, in the proper exams I got an E and a U.

Lucilky though I have a family who, yes they care about my education, but they don't interfere so much and if I get a bad result they let it go as there is no point in moaning at me.

I got 10% in Business and 12% in Religion in two exams in the past year, so try telling that to your parents. N/G for both. But they were just nightmare tests and I learnt my lesson, now in Religion, I'm probably the best in the year at it.

I don't understand people who think the world is going to end just because they received a bad grade. Sounds more like bad parenting to me.

Can't even imagine how people think this, not really a hard concept.

I have very little respect for parents that make grades everything. Less for children who only care about their grades because of their parents, but this is unrelated. Especially on a single assignments- it's not a big deal at all.

Even a single class failed doesn't really matter in the long run. A friend of mine got a 0.6% in his Spanish class (you'd think he'd have to TRY for that, apparently he went to only one class and got a low grade on the assignment) and he's still getting into a fairly nice university.

I started to have bad grades starting last year, thanks to the fact that I started to be a lazy brat, and although I did a hell better this trimestrer, I still got two low grades (30/70, I'm not sure how much that is in the letter system). My parents never get angry at me, or at least my mother doesn't, she understands the feeling after all.

I'm not sure how much your grades are important before accesing an university, but you should try to get at least half of the max grade on every class, just to make sure.

Well, I just had a "talk" with my parents. And my mom goes "Where is your life going this year you started to get B's and now you fail a test. You won't get into a good college at this rate" Dumbass bitch, I just nodded my head and then left.

Shit happens. I'm on my way to getting my second F in my college career. Damn Probabilities class .

The first time I got an F, it was in Intro to C++ class. A fundamental and the foundation class for my major (Computer Science). Retook the class and got an A+. Planning to do the same with Probabilities.

Both times though, I'm blaming the professor. The first time, the prof doesn't speak English. Had a hard time trying to decipher what the damn Japanese was trying to say. This time around, the prof talks too damn much, but NEVER finishes his sentences. Having a hard time trying to decipher what he's writing on the board AND what he's trying to say >_>.
