I can't stay interested |
|
You see, the end of the school year is nearing. I have been slacking off since the middle of the year (video games are to blame) and I cannot seem to get back into the swing of things =/. How do you stay interested, and motivated with school? -------------------

Well, get your parents to lock up your video game until the weekend, or until you get your grades up, it seems like that would be sufficent. ------------------- ![]()

What motivates me is my self-criticism. If I fail in school, or my grade drops, I internally ridicule myself as a failure and a disgrace. ------------------- Forum Academiae President Rome

Destroy and dismantle all distractions! Lock up your computer and video games (if you need to), be sure to drink up on caffeine to help you concentrate, make yourself so goddamn bored that there's nothing to do but study, and well...just mentally push yourself. ------------------- Stating what a man is made of by the periodic table is only useful if you wish to make him into fertilizer.

quote FrostI'm in the same boat as you. It even carried over to college. I use to stay motivated by wanting to get out of the hood. Now that I'm in college and out of the hood, I realize the hood is part of me and it is my home. Now my current motivation I'm working on, if I fail out I have to join the army to pay the tuition. -------------------

re: I can't stay interested |
quote a DudeThat's definitely one of my reasons haha. I have to get good grades to satsify my parents. They get quite mad if I get a B. Anything lower would be insanity. But I also want to get good grades for myself because I really want to get into a good university when I graduate, and I just refuse to get anything lower than A. Grades are important for my future, so I have to stay motivated. ------------------- ![]()

quote RomeI often do that, especially in the subjects which matter to my future. Think of it this way: "Slack off and you'll end up working in the drive-thru at McDonalds." But it is almost true because if you don't shine in the subjects you're going to need for the career you want, then someone else is going to be picked over you. ![]() -Choccy ------------------- ![]() ProjectEden|MyProfile|GuestBook|TombRaiderWiki

What kept me motivated throughout university is quite strange really. In the first semester of my second year I fell seriously ill and was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, and although debilitating at times, I decided that it would be too easy to give up and blame everything on my illness. Instead I sought to prove myself by doing the best I could in spite of what I was going through, and I've actually performed better since then. I didn't want my illness to hold me back or restrict me in any way, and as such I threw myself into my studies a lot harder, and although at times it was incredibly difficult when juggling chronic pain and multiple assignments, I think it paid off. ------------------- ![]()

Last year I was in Year 12. I think the thing that made me study the most was trying to obtain the best possible score, and in the process beat the scores obtained by my mates. I'm just competitive by nature so I find this way very successful. I gotta start studying for my mid-year's now though... -------------------
