The way I stay motivated in school is kinda like what Rome said with the self-criticism, if I don't get the grades that I know I am able to get then I am a little disappointed in myself and I resolve to do better.

My motivations are, if I do good in school my parents will buy me stuff, if I do bad I get my broadband cut off. It's good motivation, plus when It comes to state exams I get really good gifts.

Ahh that reminds me, my dad said he'd pay me for having good grades Maybe I should try harder on this project then lol

I have this problem a lot (I have "behavioural" issues) and I find I need a muse. I find a motivation song helps or even watching a show with achievement in it can help from time to time.

Towards the end of the year I basically say screw you all to the teachers because all my grades are As anyway and then they give out some really cheap assignment that drops my grade about 4% somehow and that motivates me to do my best. As well as the extra incentive of getting paid $160 every quarter of the school year if I get all As. But I tend to procrastinate which my mom hates but it makes me do a much better job in my opinion. I aced a job shadow presentation in a night. The shadow had to be four hours, the paper had to be five pages, and our presentation had to be good. I did all of that, wrote six pages, had a 25 slide powerpoint and got 100% on the exam and in the class.

Just put in the best effort when and where you can. Don't try to overdo anything and try to have about half an hour of fun before doing your homework but make sure you start after that.

If you do get your videogames taken away, that is motivation because you know you want them back to play again as soon as you can. For me it isn't though, videogames and Neo is why I rush through my homework.

I'm awful at been motivated. Mum nagging doesn't help and sometimes I don't have the determination to do well aha

Rome gave some good adice, no one wants to look dumb with shitty grades, so aim high and get that A* bitch

My motivation iskind of a mixture of competetiveness and understanding that I need to do well in school to do well in life. In sciences, I sit next to 2 of my best friends, and we are basically the cleverest 3 in the class, so whoever out of us ( clearly me ) is best, is therefore best in class, so this motivates me to do better in studying and tests etc. This also really helped me get interested in Chemistry, especially. So much so it has gone from one of my least favourite subjects, to my second fave. Also, if I want to go to uni, I need the top grades, so that motivates me a lot.

Haha I wish I was best in the class. At least I'm never the worst. Normally in science I fall asleep

I agree. My competitive nature drives me to do great as well. Me and my friends are pretty much the smartest in the school. But I have a spectrum of them...I have kids that are in special ed classes and ones that are in Honors courses like myself. We each beat each other out sometimes but overall all of us are in the top 20 at least. I can't check my class rank right now though School is over.

Coming from a deep dedication to my religion, I stay interested because it pleases Jesus.

I'm terrible when it comes to motivation. Honestly, I had a repeat assignment due last Friday at 5pm, one that, if I failed, would have serious financial repercussions in my family that could've resulted in me not going back to Uni. I began reading about the subject of the assignment at 2.30pm and finished typing it at 4.15. I mean seriously, whenever I finish I'm like "why the hell did I wait so long?!"

I think it's because I'm naturally quite smart, not super smart, and I can pass most subjects without too much effort. It's an annoying aspect of my personality that I'm content to be average.
