It takes a hell of a lot to freak me out, so I guess I can't really attest to this. I don't go around reading about the number thirteen though...

In other areas though, if I find a rather peculiar or interesting food for example I'm likely to try it regardless of what it is simply to see what it tastes like. Testament to the this is the fact that one of my favourite Japanese meals is "Gyu Tan" or beef tongue.

Well, as I said earlier, finding out information helped me out with a similar fear of the supernatural (which isn't any more rational). It's not so much figuring out the irrationality behind it as it is becoming familiar with how many other people share your views, why you might or might not have the fear, when the fear arose (historically)... Just becoming as familiar with it as you possibly can. You tend to find that it's much more difficult to become frightened of something you know so much about.

I can see where you're coming from though. I know how all that stuff can help one overcome fears, or at least lessen the fear and whatnot. Who knows, maybe I'm happy with things the way they are now?

If you're happy with it as a part of your life, chances are it's not a phobia anyway. By psychological definition, phobias have to be intrusive to the point of interfering significantly with your daily life - and if that were the case, I daresay you wouldn't be happy with it.

Of course you get scared or disgusted by things because it's not normal, but in it being not normal it makes it more interesting, therefore you are drawn to it because most humans can't help themselves.

It's like when you smell something bad, you're all like "WOAH That is horrible" but I bet you 9 times out of 10 you will smell it again just to make sure how bad it was.

How do you know thirteen is bad if you don't test it out?

Should have said "muck around with it more". Had plenty of experimentation in the past to satisfy my desires.

What happened then? To me it's just a number. I've never worried about superstitions like that.

To take a recent example, lets have a look at Round 13 of this year's AFL season:

Second biggest loss in club history, biggest at home. Not good.

Then there's always the Year 7 camp. Worst week of my life; everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, went wrong for me. Maybe because I was in cabin 13...

my brother really loves to watch NGC and those other documentaries about insects and other stuff but geez he doesn't know what to do when he sees big spiders.tsk tsk poor kid.i don't think he is disgusted by the sight of the big spider (and not to mention ****roaches and other creepy crawling insects) but because of what he knows about those creatures.

ajnidehs i think those are just pure coincidence. 13 is just a number.

Frankly, I find the number 23 more interesting. That movie really got through to me.

Now I don't generally find space to be scary, but I love to watch those shows about the world beyond our own.
