Where Shall I Go; What Shall I Do? |
|
WHY is there no Ending Guide for this game? I've started a new round, but now I don't know what I need to do to unlock a different ending! Last time, I used the necklace and left with Douglas. Any tips for this time around?

The ending system of this game is point based. If I recall correctly, each monster you kill adds 10 or so points to your final score. However, there are just not enough monsters to kill in the game to get the 4000 point quota you need to get an alternate ending. Instead, in the church, you are given the chance to talk with a woman in the confessional chamber. If you choose to forgive her, you get 1000 extra points, otherwise you get nothing.
Aside from those, there is an extra ending: once you beat more than 333 in your game file (doesn't matter how many Next Fear games you play), a new weapon will be available as soon as you start another Next Fear game: the Heather/Sexy Beam. The Heather Beam is used while holding no weapon and getting on fighting stance. The Sexy beam is used the same way, but while using the Princess Heart costume. If you kill a total of 33 enemies with the Sexy Beam before getting out of the Hilltop Center, you'll get another alternate ending instead of proceeding to the Missionary fight. Summarizing: --Ending 1: Do not forgive the woman at the confessional. --Ending 2: Kill every enemy possible, and forgive the woman at the confessional. --Ending 3: Kill 33 enemies with the Heather Beam before getting out of the Hilltop Center. Oh yeah, a little spoiler for the Borley Mansion: Mag's Edit: I've made a little investigation for you. It seems that getting damaged helps rising the final score a lot. It seems that more than 2000 points in damage is almost demanded to get the ending; as I said before, there are just not enough monsters in the game to achieve a stand-alone 4000. Forgiving is still important, though. Mag's Edit2: Additionally to the 3rd ending, you cannot kill anything if you don't kill it with the Heather/Sexy Beam. Kicking enemies will count as melee kills, so be sure to always use the Heather/Sexy Beam until the thing is good dead. The shooting and melee deaths HAS to be zero for the 3rd ending to take place Also, for the Heather Beam to be unlocked, the 333 enemy killings must be done with standard weapons. In that case, this is probably where it gets a little confusing. I forgave Claudia, but I probably didn't kill all the monsters. So which ending has me leaving with Douglas? And is the necklace the only item to use right before the final boss?
Also, I'm the type who tries to kill as many monsters as I can. So after thuroughly re-reading your post, it sounds like I got the second ending. In either case, thanks. This message was merged with other messages by Krunal (moderator)

It is virtually impossible for you to have gotten the second ending according to my previous post. What you've experienced is the first ending. Moreover:
Answering to the second question, in the scene in the church before Claudia ingests God, you can shoot her or go behind her, but it will give you a Game Over screen. The only way to proceed to the final boss fight is to ingest the Aglaophitis pill inside your necklace. Regarding to the woman at the confessional, it is currently unknown who is that woman, though it's most likely Ms. Gillespie from Silent Hill. ------------------- ![]()

Oh.
So do "standard weapons" mean only the weapons I find in the first play-through? And do feet count?

Yes and yes. A "standard" weapon is any weapon can you get on your first playthrough. Stomping on enemies count as a standard weapon, if I recall correctly.

Haha, in that case, it's actually a bit of a tease that I didn't unlock the Heather Beam already. Now I have a lightsaber and infinite Submachine Gun, but can't use them. I think I'll start over with a new first playthrough and hope to find all the enemies then. Again, thank you very much for your help!

I would recommend against it. It is virtually impossible to kill 333 enemies in a single playthrough. From past experiences I can tell there are less than 300 kills in the whole game, bosses included. The kills are cumulative, so it wouldn't be a problem, given the extreme modes chance; you'll most probably unlock it before extreme III

Despite already replacing my first save file, this is actually a relief. I chose hard action mode to encounter as many enemies as possible, but they're so deadly that it's nearly impossible to kill them all before passing the next no-turning-back moment. The good news is I started my second playthough on a seperate save file. That should save me the trouble of having to go through the first time again, right?

As long as your previous game save is present, you can just load that save and continue a Next Fear. However, if you did erase it, you'll have to play everything again.

Looks like I didn't quite make myself clear enough.
By the time I rashly re-started the first save file, a second had already been made. I'm using that.
