re: Multiplayer

Ok, I was confused for a while about the matchmaking system. It just gives vague references to "improved matchmaking" in nearly every multiplayer feature on every site. But after further research I have deduced that it is still the same host/lobby shite as the last game.

However, they have apparently VASTLY improved loading times and integrated the P.E.C. system into the menu seamlessly (without loading every freaking time you go to the xbox live menu). And now you can join games IN PROGRESS if the host allows it. Also, the game search engine supposedly will match you up with more compatible games that the first Vegas.

It's ashame they didn't incorporate ACTUAL matchmaking, but I suppose the improvements they made will make multiplayer worthy.

The problem I had with the last rainbow six is that I just didn't have the patience for the multiplayer system most of the time. It could take damn near 20 minutes to find a decent game sometimes, and when you do there is a chance of the host just leaving anyway. I'm very disappointed that they still don't have matchmaking but o wellz... guess I'll just have to make do like everyone else.

Oh yeah, and the ranked multiplayer system is still a joke. Teams are always gonna be stacked according to the host and the settings are always gonna be what the host and his posse are best at.

re: Multiplayer

I hate severs, as there are still hosts (CoD4 is a perfect example) and you often don't get the match settings you want. Like I said, there are still hosts in servers, they are basically the core, and they send out the match settings to everyone else. Having to join a game that tells you who the host is is just an excuse for babies who need to blame 'host advantage' on someone cause they're doing bad.

re: Multiplayer

i think all xbox live games work on a host basis. PC online is usually better as they have some dedicated servers and some hosted servers like you said. but i dont like playing games on my pc very much. ive got the games from valve, CS, HL, TF2 ect and thats pretty much it, i think deciding to get orange box for pc was a good choice.

anyways, i thought there would be more people interested in this with it been out this month, can bet that the threads will be heaving as soon as its released like

re: Multiplayer

the cod4 settings for online is great.

and i agree with Game Hawk about people blaming a host advantage because they might've screwed up

re: Multiplayer

Are you guys serious?

Host is WAY better, for so many reasons.

1-Kick glitchers
2-Kick mouth offs
3-Switch around settings at leisure.
4-Hate the Host? There are always plenty more.

re: Multiplayer

Since games are hosted then is it possible to join as a party or do you and your mates just have to join the same game? I know you could just host your own game but then you would have to wait for people.

re: Multiplayer

Good question...

i think you will still have to meet up individually. Unless your already together and ur the host, there may be a "bring party" option.
