Overheating

Anyone elses xbox struggling with this problem.

Was playing COD4 for basically all of yesterday and was fine. Got Vegas this morning, stuck it in, halfway through customising my bloke, xbox shuts down and i got the 2 left lights on red. (which apparently is overheating)

Left it for about an hour, just started the story up, and it did it again. I've left it for a while now, just about to go and try it again, any thoughts on whats goin on?

re: Overheating

I really doubt Vegas 2 is responsible for overheating your 360.

What temperature is it where you live ? 360s are more susceptible to overheating when it's warmer.

re: Overheating

i think whenever a new game comes out many people complain of this.may sound stupid but mebbe the box isnt use to all thats going on on the game and is overworking to load.new games, new technology and new limits will push the 360s durability but i wouldnt think vegas 2 would, not if callofduty4 didnt, i mean the visuals on that are much better but perhaps there isnt as much happening since on rainbow all the walls will have to be designed so that you can cover on them perhaps that extra memory strain..................im gonna stop now coz im just talking bollocks

re: Overheating

No, it's a fair comment.

Played COD for about an hour this morning, and was fine. Stuck vegas in and 5 minutes into a mission it shut down. Was gettng into it as well so getting slightly annoyed at it.

I might try it downstairs in a bit, it's a bit cooler down there, but saying that it's not even hot in my room so I doubt it's gonna help...

What about if I point my desk fan at it. Think that will do anything? I'm really clutching at straws here...

That usually works when I try it on hot days.

re: Overheating

i understand the desk fan thing works, coz it gives them cool air, wheras the ones that you attach suck the life out of it. the disc drive area never seems to get hot so point it towards the back, i think its some soldering that melts at the back when you get the 3 red lights, might be wrong.

tis strange though, mine seems to struggle a little more with new games but doesnt really crash very often.

you dont have a charger pack attached to the usb do you?i bought one off ebay it looks authentic enough but im not sure it is, i charge the pack and the batterie pack lasts about 2hours tops, my rechargeable batteries last a good 15+hours, its just getting around to charging all 4 of em.

anyways i blame the usb charger for the ring of death of my 1st xbox, it seems to suck alot of life out of the console and doesnt give much to the control.

re: Overheating

i bought 2 fans that attaches to the 360 and never had any problems, i would suggest you get as many fan to attach to it so in the long run you dont pay a hefty charges to fix it

re: Overheating

If I take it apart and clean it, will that help? It did when I was having problems with my ps2.

And my mic is broke as well now, keeps cutting out when it feels like it. Useless piece of $%&£

re: Overheating

I've fixed many of my console by submerging them in water then drying with the cool setting on a hair-dryer and leaving for a couple of days. I wouldn't recomend it though as it is a bit risky.

My 360 has crashed 3 times since I had V2 and I have only been playing it for about 10 hours.

re: Overheating

That does sound risky..

I took my ps2 apart and used a can of air to blow all the crap out of it. Worked a treat after that.

Well until I tripped over the controller wire and pulled it off my desk, instantly killing it and pro evo 5...

re: Overheating

You can't blame the game

It could just be the temperature

You have to keep it well ventilated, or yours will explode, like mine
