WoW killer? |
|
many MMO's have tried to take down WoW, and failed. Will this take the MMO king off its throne?
I say yes, your opinions? This message was edited by Your_Savior on Jun 30 2009. ------------------- ![]() My Digiport [Requests? Sometimes...]

It's not entirely the same type of MMO, while WoW focusses alot on PvE with nasty story-bosses, this game appears to be alot about the Abyss and PvP within there.. So I don't know but I have already preordered this so I can give it a shot.

This game won't kill WoW. Not what WoW has become.

Pretty much agree with Lloyd. I think it won't kill WoW as a lot of people favor PvE (co-op) over PvP (competitive); the games (focus) are too different to be compared.

I've never played WoW intensively, but form what I've seen/ heard and all that, I don't think there will ever be a MMORPG having the same impact as WoW had.
I do think Aion looks really hot though, with lots of nice features, like flying, a battle system in which your position in regard to your opponent is taken into account while determining battle outcome and probably a few more nifty things I'm forgetting. Although it probably won't beat WoW in popularity, for me it's games like this that keep me from considering playing WoW as well. Which is a good thing. ------------------- ![]()

Well, World of Warcraft is starting to lose it's player base, I dealt that they have had any new official players for a long time, World of Warcraft has gotten quiet boring lately, if you read the forums alto you seem to notice that alto of people are making threads about leaving.
After player World of Warcraft for almost 3 years now I've grown so bored of it that I've escaped my addiction. This game looks so great, maybe the best looking game I have ever seen, I hope this game does very well but I just hope that I get over hyped about it to only get a bit 'not-all-that-it-seems' thing. World of Warcraft players might come and check it out if Aion can advertise it well. -------------------

It won't kill WoW, but it will be the viable alternative to WoW that will stand the test of time.

quote Northern49Yes, it won't kill Wow, but World of Warcraft is starting to die a bit, people are getting fed up with the game as with so much... Immaturities and being bored and everything being "Easy" (Which I somewhat disagree with) Blizzard is starting to drop World of Warcraft, as they are not making any more money of it really, as the game dies another one is made, they are making a New MMO after all, while working on Diablo 3 and Starcraft. It seems impossible to have a chat with a GameMaster in the game with problems. I think a lot of people will come and try out Aion, as it's new and polished for the Year 2009, World of warcraft is starting to get old to, 5 years it's been. But who knows... ![]() -------------------

Your right, WOw is getting boring, they have added too many of the same old thing again and again with only a 3% difference, if that. It has been the same way for the past 3 years. (i dont think they will give up on it just yet, they have so many people who still play they are putting in effort to make new expansion etc.) this may be the game i leave wow for.

quote Sonic Flash I seriously beg to differ, I think this will certainly put WoW in it's place, probably not kill at not everyone will quit, but I think there will be some serious competition. ------------------- "I had to fall to lose it all but in the end it doesn't .. even.. matter."

Sorry to bring up a dead thread guys, but I'm already noticing a lot of people saying that they are going to go back to WoW.
Which is a shame because it's only really been out for a short time. With a few updates and some die-hard players, it could be close to being as good or better than WOW. ------------------- ![]() I've got a sickness that I can't seem to shake. And I know that you hold the cure.

How could anyone go back to WoW after playing this? It's like the maiden going back to the abusive drunk after being in an affair with a golden hunk.

After playing Aion for a month I ran to renew my WoW account. Why would I want to deal with that horrible grind when I already have 5 80s on WoW?
Aion looks pretty. That's it sadly. Other then that it's ho-hum and to me feels no different then a usual free mmo. I also found the community dull. It's made of 90% of everyone who always bitched about WoW. I dont really wanna play a game with a bunch of naggers. I see WoWs faults, and I see Aions. I think Aion will be a much more interesting game in a few years if it lives that long. ------------------- ![]() The feeling of dryland is making me sick. So I stand here coughing up sharks.
