Interference

I just bought a HD set top box for my LCD TV and every so often there is interference. When a light switches on or off, or even when there is a storm outside, it still seems to get interference. It seems worse than watching the TV with the normal channels.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how do you fix it?

re: Interference

It seems like it could be some sort of static electricity problem. Does the power cord on the box have 2 prongs, or 3? Do you have it plugged into a surge protector?

re: Interference

It has two prongs, and no it's not plugged into a surge protector. Should it be?

Also, my TV came with a ferrite core that clips on over the power cord. I tried it on the set top box's cord but it didn't do anything.

re: Interference

Plug it into a surge protector, and I'd recommend you do the same for most of your other appliances as well. The surge protector will protect against those little things that pop-up when you turn on lights, etc.
