Far Cry 2 Review |
|
First Off- It's amazing The Graphics are so lifelike, and the ideas that the game has are so real, yet Original, that you will be cursing yourself, for say, using your Flamethrower to much and it jamming- -which brings us to one idea- the flamethrower, if targeted at the ground, will spread, allowing you to strategically pick off enemies, and admire the visuals at the same time.... the weapons on the game are good, but are often short of ammo, which can be annoying, especially when the AI are so good that you'll need every round you can get your blood-stained paws on.... As usual, there are some bad points- big 'uns to- -Maleria You will be, say, swimming, or running from AI, when Maleria kicks in, you slow down, can't breath, and die, unless you pop a few pills -Travel though it's a pleasure to see the graphics, it gets very boring when your driving round, none-stop, just to kill 3 people, then your driving again i am not particularly talented at the game, and have yet to finish it, so part 2 will soon be coming....

One thing i have noticed: The Characters The Voice acting, Lip-Syncing and overall portrayal f the characters is a work of art.... ....they have such distinctive personalities, and they have a way of making you hate them....yet admire them.... ....the game gets you deeply involved in the story, like when your about to die, and your buddy saves you, you feel geniunly GRATEFUL!

Since I have completed the game three times on three different levels, I hope all will be interested to hear my review so far, that is since I have not played the insane level yet. First off, many times I have heard that it get boring and tedious driving aroung from mission to mission. Well from day 1 on easy level, I never liked driving anyway since by doing so, you miss out on a lot of chances to aquire diamonds and to recon the area. By just walking, or by taking a bus from corner to corner, you can secure safe houses, which by the way is the wiset thing you can do in the game other than just staying alive. Here's why. By securing every possible safe house in the game, you can change the time before every objective to the night because it gives you the stealth advantage, plus once you reach a certain level, you can always get extra ammo and health, and exchange weapons, which is an absolute must in this game. My strategy was once I had purchased weapon storage cases for each category and installed my choice weapons in the safe house, they would always be there for me when I needed them, (and you always need them), then ammo up after a mission until you reach the nearest gun dealer. Many times too because of your malaria condition which plagues you throughout the game, you must travel to underground locations to make the exchange. Having an equipped safe house nearby, makes this so much easier for your approach. The boats are fine too but much better at night as they slip by much more unnoticed, and detect nearby diamonds. As for weapons, the dart rifle is by far the most valuable weapon it the game. Why? First of all is silent and you don't have to make a head shot to make a kill. One shot one kill most of the time. Problem with it though is even though you buy the dependabilty upgrade, it still hangs up, and as of yet, I have never found one in any village, or on any person. Also, even with a marksman bandolier, your ammo is extremely limited. The grenade launcher is also a must to deal with the vehicles that are constantly patrolling the entire map. As for a main weapon, I liked the saw or the auto-shotgun once stealth was out of the question. One more thing about the malaria. Once you take your last pill, it usually shows you that you are out. You must make immediate arrangements to obtain more, but I liked to combine that with a mission and a submission all at once. That way you never worry about drowning with the symptoms of malaria. All the characters in the game are great at first, but beware there is a lot of eventual backstabbing in the future. I loved this game and I would give it a 9 rating on all aspects, except for the fact that you can't find any dart rifles in the whole AEO except at the gun dealers, and the sniper rifles you do have are not silenced.
But then , I guess the game would be too easy, lol.

I wish the Characters in the game would take more time in talking to you- it's just You OK? You have Malaria! Do this Mission! But, and i am not in the mood for writing i will say: Just driving around is blissfull! The graphics are amazing!

I personally didnt find the game as addictive as the original farcry. I love the sandbox format but it just doesnt make me want to play it again and again like farcry did. The graphics are great, there is no doubt about that, and the system requirements are not as high as farcry was in its day but I dont find the African savannah as compelling as the tropical setting in farcry. Infact I kinda wish they had just gone for the tropical island setting again (ok, call me boring!). I loved the ambience in farcry - ya know, the crashing of the waves on the sea shore, the buzzing of the insects, infact the whole in-tangible feel thing that farcry had in bucketloads. Dont shoot me, just my personal thoughts
