I am an avid gta fan but the new one didn't do it for me like the other ones. first off its obvious that rockstar wanted to take the game in a more realistic direction and thats fine but it seems they missed on some things that would have really boosted this game.

1: the campaign mode is not as captivating as san andreas. yeah the story and animations are better but you cannot get even close to the amount of freedom available in sa. the map is an impressive feat of graphic engineering but I cant do anything to it! sure I can hit a soda machine with a car but none of these features in the game can I use to my advantage. not only that where are all the stores? you have to travel half way across the map to reach anything, Its new york! there should be hundreds of shops everywhere selling things like handkerchiefs that you can put in gas tanks or potatoes you can put in tailpipes. The only real motivators in this game are opening up an island, beating the game or getting your friends perk. not enough! I want to be able to upgrade my guy, my weapon, my car, my house, my relationships,my abilities and my city. In gta 4 it seems niko is invisible to everyone but the characters you contact. its like his exploits dont mean anything. at the end of the game there is just a feeling of what now?
I dont want to look for pigeons or perverts, I want to take a nrg 900 that operated like it did in SA (motorcycles suck in 4) and jump it off a mountain. in gta 4 you almost accept the fact that now your stuck with playing online ( ill get to that too) or finding stupid little things instead of making your own fun. The new physics are fun to a point. they are cool when your drunk and when you fly off a motor cycle. not cool when playing online or just walking around.
watching your impending death unfold in front of you while your character gets up like a cripple inst cool. they could have at least made animations for rolling out of a car or getting up that don't take you out of the fight when you fall down.

Combat system ehh, niko knows kharab mgah but cant grab,disarm,submit,or stealthily kill anybody. These are the basics to kharab mgah and he cant perform them? why not just call his style gta-fu! once again they made hand to hand combat pointless. you should be able to sneak up on some one and kill them with your bare hands to get their weapon , not line up some sucker punches while you get shot in the face. also the cover system is crude and not well though out. sometimes it doesnt provide any cover and when you try to deactivate it you just get sucked to an even less effective wall. It works ok in campaign and not so good in multiplayer. also sometimes it wont allow you to shoot if you will hit the wall ahead of you but of course this problem disappears with a rocket launcher allowing easy suicide. ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS I HAD WAS WEAPONS TOO FEW WEAPONS. PILE ON THE WEAPONS, SILENCERS, LMG'S, TIRE SPIKES. there are so many cool direction the combat could have gone in multiplayer and campaign if they just added more weapons. The weapons that are there are the most recognized boring guns ever.

Cars are pretty cool, except motorcycles they suck. the handling system is a cool way to give players total control in a realistic way. one thing though MAKE THEM MODIFIABLE PLEASEEEE! I cant remember how many hours i spent in san andreas making lowriders and sports cars. In the new one they should allow you to take parts off one car and add them to another.

relationships are a little annoying just because you dont get enough out of your friends. It would be cool if you could just pick up like 3 of your friends and perform robberies and such, then they take themselves home. make it so friend owe favors and you can get them to do certain side missions for you.

Money is almost pointless. you can only buy guns food and sex, what kind of city is this? ill go here when i need a .45 blowjob sandwich. make it so players can watch as their money grows in legitimate or illegitimate business's and allow them to invest in gang activity. allow the buying of property to enhance your investments, like chop shops or dock yards.have loan sharks, bookies and shilocks nagging you to pack back your loan.

multi player is a little too thrown together. and often times it seems more fun to just talk trash to the little kids and brits then to actually play the games. the modes are ok but barely.team deathmatch, race and cops and crooks are my favorite. the biggest problem I have is YOU CANT SHOOT ROCKETS OUT OF A HELICOPTER!!!!! I know some asshole at rockstar said "maybe shooting rockets at each other from helicopters would be TOO MUCH FUN!!" I mean come one are they saving that for later games or did they just want to be duche bags? besides all that, the glitches at times make the game pointless, what does 30 kills mean if you were just glitching around shooting rockets?

Grand theft auto is still one of my favorite games to play but honestly if san andreas came after this one exactly the same as it was it would get higher ratings than 4

I've played all the 3D titles from GTA III to GTA IV including Stories on PSP and PS2 and my favourites were San Andreas because of the maximum input of gameplay developed into the game and Liberty City Stories because of the fascinating history between it and GTA III.

I haven't played any other GTA since GTA IV but I am still into San Andreas because its the best GTA for its gameplay variety unlike GTA IV which has downgraded to basic levels to try new thing for the next generation. I've completed the story in GTA IV and now spend alot of time doing odd stuff and playing online.
