What the heck is a GTA Social Forum anyway? Well, it was an idea conceived of by Superfast Oz, Dynamite and the Administration of Neoseeker. 2. What is the purpose and/or direction of the Forum? The purpose and direction is to allow members a more loose and less stringent place to talk about GTA in a more general way than any specific forum would normally permit. However, non GTA topics and more social threads are also permitted. The way the idea was originally pitched to me, and the direction we are maintaining is that this forum is to be seen sort of like a "GTA-Loungin'" Forum. Thus, many things that would be considered off topic or even SPAM are allowed and even welcomed here. You can find more information [here] in Superfast Oz's thread. 3. What can we talk about here As I said above, think of this as GTA-Loungin'. So while the philosophy and approach of this forum may, at first, seem rather unconventional, you may post any topic or subject you believe is reasonable, directly connected to GTA or not. As written above, however, please make sure to acquaint yourself with the rules of Neoseeker before posting in this or any forum on the site. 4. There are already GTA forums all over the site. So why do we need a GTA Social Forum anyway? Well it isn't a matter of "need" per se. Think of this forum as both a GTA Forum for any of the games, and sort of a non GTA Forum as well. 5. Are all GTA games fair game for discussion? Yes, absolutely. Any GTA games, any characters, missions, weapons, vehicles, peds or subject matter even remotely related to a game is fine here. 6. What about non GTA topics? Again, this is a little more ambiguous. While I can assure you that the Supers, the admins, Steel Magnolia or me do not want to foster SPAM, you can feel free to be off topic in this Forum. However, when I say off topic, this is not to be construed as meaning you can post random garbage in every thread. While the forum itself is very much off topic, each thread will have its own topic, and on that level, you should make sure that you stick to the topic of the thread you are posting in. In other words, if you see a topic that asks you age, height and weight, you should stay on that topic and not post random stuff like, "OMG like I just can't get enough Pancakes!!" 7. With such a variety of topics and such a laid back forum philosophy, how do I know if I am SPAMMING? This is a tough one to answer with an absolute certainty, to be quite honest. However, think of spamming as random thoughts which do not add to the discussion value of whatever thread you are posting in. Meaning you should be on topic, at the very least, within the thread that was already established should you post in it. Look, I discussed this with both Oz and Dynamite at some length, and here is what we tacitly agreed upon: Flagrant Spamming will not be tolerated. However, we are not inclined to be handing out warnings and bans for more socially oriented threads that would not be allowed in a forum that has a more specific direction. I guess the best way to put it is common sense rules apply, as well as ANY rules against spamming and flaming which already exist on this site. Since one of the rules is "stay on topic" and the forum itself really has no specific topic, we will be inclined to be VERY tolerant of anything that is not specifically about GTA, so long as you are either on topic in the thread you are posting in, or if you create a thread, it is not complete and utter nonsense. Duplictate threads will, of course, be closed, and members will be directed to the original thread. Other than that, let's play it by ear for now.  8. I want to talk about the really old GTA games, you know the PS1 and PC top-down view games. Is this allowed? Absolutely! Any GTA game or add on, no matter where or when it was created, or even if it is not yet out, is fine here. 9. What about forum quizzes, games, activities, club threads, picture contests and other fun member stuff? Quizzes, game threads, activities and clubs are absolutely allowed. We want to encourage the community aspect of the forum to as great a degree possible. Therefore we will permit quizzes, games, forum activities and all of that. I must insist on one rule, however, and this is important: If you want to play a game, start some quiz, or sponsor a forum activity, you MUST first PM one of the forum moderators and get permission. The reason for this is that we don't want tons of unsanctioned activities and a load of duplicate games or quizzes going on. So please obtain permission from either Steel or myself before beginning a quiz, game, club or other activity. 10. How about poll threads and things like that? Yep! In fact, there are several underway right now you can take part in. These you don't need permission for. If you accidentally create a duplicate poll, it will simply be closed and members then directed to the original thread. 11. Who are the forum moderators? Steel Magnolia and ChiroVette. 12. I love GTA and I want to be a moderator too. Can I be a moderator in this forum? No and please don't ever ask. The bottom line is that if a moderator is needed, either because traffic gets very heavy, or because one or more Moderators here steps down, a Moderator will be decided upon and submitted to the Supers and Admins by the current Forum moderators. Asking to be a moderator here is the surest way to guarantee you will NEVER be selected, period! Supers, admins and current forum moderators of the particular GTA forums are the deciding factors in this regard. Additionally, if you want to be a moderator of this forum, if such a position becomes available, you should act responsibly and be helpful, polite and civil at all times. Grand Theft Auto: Social Forum Rules
Disciplinary Actions Members who break any of the above rules or any of the Forum Wide Rules will be dealt with on a case per case system. Obviously, repeat offenders will be handled more harshly. No one breaking any of the rules will be overlooked in any circumstance. Ending Note If you have any questions, feel free to contact ChiroVette or Steel Magnolia.
