The Discovery of the Seven
|
January 28th, 1954
Hello. My name is Professor James Yew. I work as a Pokemon researcher on Cinnabar Island, and work in tandem with the research efforts of esteemed Pokemon Professors such as Professor Oak and Professor Elm. My laboratory is home to a plethora of Pokemon whose existence has been documented for centuries.
My reason for writing this journal is simple - expansion. Myself and my fellow Professors are convinced that the number of Pokemon species in our continent can not be limited to those which we as humans have domesticated. And therein lies our work. We strive to find new species of Pokemon which may revolutionise the way we in which see our world today. And so, with this journal, I shall delve into the untapped depths that is our natural world.
January 30th, 1954
Today I visited the decrepit old building at the north of the island. There have recently been rumours circulating Cinnabar that there is a shape-shifter within the building, and this intrigues me. Whether the locals speak of a ghost, I can not be sure. I felt I must investigate, and so of course I did. I spent around an hour rooting through the old rooms, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary (although, I did find a very useful Solarbeam TM). I was just leaving, as I heard a faint growl. I took some food out of the pouch on my belt, and laid a small trail to placate any Pokemon which may have been hiding. And surely, soon enough a Growlithe poked his head from behind some rubble.
In my time as a researcher, I have heard rumours from other countries of Pokemon which were slightly unnatural colours, yet I never thought I would encounter such a rare and wondrous sight! This Growlithe had a beautiful mauve hue to its fur, and the shafts of light penetrating the half closed curtains created illusions of reds and oranges to complement the mauves and lilacs. I just had to take this beautiful specimen home.
He was surprisingly placid, and quickly came over to investigate who I was after I whistled and beckoned to him. As I write this entry now, he is in fact sitting on my lap, quite content in his dreams.
Oh! The doorbell rings! I shall be back to write more tomorrow - I wish to pick the brains of this Growlithe as deeply as I possibly can!

I'm not going to give away why its pink, but there is a clue in the story
And I am glad you like it. Hopefully it should carry on for a while, as long as I don't get too carried away.

February 2nd, 1954.
Nothing out of the ordinary from Growlithe thus far. However, a very strange package was dropped at my door today. I opened it and out fell the most beautiful orange stone I have ever laid my eyes on. Although at first glance it looks to have been wrent from a mine with no care whatsoever, once you inspect this gem you can see and feel the most precisely polished grooves, the effect of which must have taken centuries to refine. As I inspected it further, a rush of warmth spread throughout my body, as if a small fire had been lit within me by the stone. I held the stone up to the light and realised it was clear as day - I was utterly dumbstruck as to how such a perfect stone could have been formed. As I was scrutinising the bumps and folds on the surface, a flame seemed to flicker from within it.
I turned around in my chair, only to see my Charmeleon waking from a deep sleep. That must have been the spread of warmth which filled my heart so, and so I placed this gem in the basement. Who knows, one day it might come in handy!
