Is going back to WWII a step forwards or backwards?

Do you think that going back to World War II is a step forwards or backwards?

For me, it isn't really going to matter me that much. I'll just focus on the new features, game-play, and whether or not the game is actually enjoyable. The maps don't mind me that much.

i think its a step backwards, world war 2 has had its time in games, im sick of world war 2 games there are to many, modern war is the way forward, so i dont think i'll be getting COD5....

Lucky for me then. CoD4 was the first first person shooter I've ever bought. Would this be an advantage or disadvantage for me?

Well, practically the new engine is the same engine as COD4 uses, so there won't be too much of a huge change apart from maps, weapons and new perks.

re: Is going back to WWII a step forwards or backwards?

Well to me it all feels the same so i dont care.

Nearly all of the online maps on CoD4 could have been passed as WWII if you think about it, so there's no difference there. If i was told that the maps were from that time, i dont think i'd even think otherwise.

The only things which will differ for me are claymores and night vision [which i rarely use] so i dont think the 'modern warfare' is even that modern tbth so i dont think it will suffer.

So to answer your original question, no i dont really think it's a step backwards at all.

The game wasn't really Jungle Warfare though.

Definitely backwards. After Modern Warfare they should have stayed modern but the improved graphics on a WW2 game could make up for that. The last WW2 COD game had terrible graphics in comparison.

Gameplay is more important, but I'm not too sure whether I'm too keen on how they're going to make the weapons seem. If a Tommy gun is a P90 with a new skin, I'll not be a happy bunny.

But if Vehicles are introduced, especially to Online Play, then I can only be happy. I hope that more levels where you're riding shotgun (AC130 Gunner, or Shock and Awe for example) are implemented.

It's a step backwards In time of course ...

It should be a good game none the less though

re: Is going back to WWII a step forwards or backwards?

It really depends more on the gameplay than the setting in my view. As long as the storyline and online gameplay is of a sufficient standard, it shouldn't be too much of a step backwards.
