Weapons thread

Does anyone else think the new Auger force barrier is any good? The curvature is better for protection but it just looks like a fishing net. It also reminds me of the bubble shield only a smaller portion and not as cool. Also you can move with the barrier up right? There's too much of an advantage with that in effect. Hope they bring back the original when everyone complains in the Beta playtest.

You can't move the barrier by the way, and it's exactly like the old Auger Force Barrier from what I've seen of gameplay videos. I very much doubt that anyone will be complaining since even in R:FoM you have force barriers.

No, the graphics are crap to begin with. About RFOM1 quality.

Also, why does it looks like nothing more than a multiplayer deathmatch? Doesn't look campaign-ey at all.

The co-op isn't going to be the same the singleplayer campaign. It's a lot more arcadey.

The graphics looked fine to me, it was just the quality of the video. The shields look very annoying though, the enemies were spamming them and when the soldier had it I could barely see a thing. The shield isn't for the Auger by the way, the Soldier class gets it as a perk.

I don't believe someone just judged a games quality based on a Youtube Video. In any case if anyone on the beta wants to upload videos, I'd highly recommend doing it on Neoseeker, we've got 1000x more quality than Youtube [/shameless advertising]

Basically when converting a video, you usually want to make it less than 100MB so you can upload it to Youtube, that effectively means that for a 10minute video the quality is drastically lowered. I could tape an HOUR of footage onto a DVD (highest quality)... thats 60 minutes, on 4.6GB. i.e. around 76MB a minute. So when you upload it, and have a 100MB cap, you really have to lower the quality, to around 10MB a minute. Thats 66MB of quality your losing. And that's just initially...

...Youtube then go ahead and further reduce it to save space. Neoseeker do the same, except since we're going to have fewer videos, we can keep the quality much higher.

I hope the main campaign doesn't play like that. One of the things I liked about RFoM was that it was almost horror like. I got freaked out in a few parts. That vid was more standard, alien invasion, Haloy like. Not that theres anything wrong with Halo, I just want Resistance 2 to stick with the scarier, more mature ambiance of Fall of Man.

Oh, thats rich. "We've got four effin medics." a second later. "I NEED MEDICAL!!! I NEED A MEDIC!!!" lol

I'm hoping that the co-op campaign doesn't play like that. Seriously, they need to change that. There doesn't seem to be ANY objective there other than to obliterate every Chimera in sight. And I'd find that quite boring.

Also, it seems that shields are seriously overused. In that video, I swear there were at least 40 shields at once.

EDIT: there was a couple places with this one huge Chimera, bigger than a Gray Jack. We're not talking Boss-size here, but it was pretty big.
